Leaked Nothing Phone 3 email teases AI-powered flagship - but I'd rather see this
Synonymous with unique mid-range Android phones, Nothing is planning to launch its first true flagship in Q1 2025. For the past few years, Nothing has been synonymous with mid-range Android phones that offer an aesthetic no other phone manufacturer can match. The Nothing phones are unique devices, beloved by fans. The company recently announced that the Nothing Phone 3 will be its first true flagship phone, and that should have fans champing at the bit to get their hands on the next iteration. Also: These are still one of my favorite earbuds I've ever tested The Nothing Phone 3 was originally set to be released in 2024, but Nothing CEO Carl Pei pushed the release to Q1 2025. On X, @evleaks shared a leaked internal email from Pei confirming the Nothing Phone 3 release. According to the leaked email, the device will introduce "breakthrough innovations in user interface, taking our first step toward our AI-powered platform." Although the leak does not confirm the phone's specs, according to Phone Arena, some of the rumored specs include: The above are only rumored specs, but if Pei plans to release this as a flagship device, the official specs better come close. I'd prefer that Nothing pull back its claim that the Phone 3 will be an AI-driven mobile device -- but that's just my opinion. As for audio, if Nothing added hardware support for high-res audio it could attract those who prefer to hear their music as it was intended. With more headphones supporting high-res audio codecs, phones without hardware support can't produce higher-quality sound. Given Nothing's focus on modernity and a hipper crowd, it would make perfect sense for the Nothing Phone 3 to support the feature; otherwise, my high-res earbuds aren't nearly as high-res as I'd like them to be. Also: Why I'm not sold on smartphone AI features yet (and I'm not alone) I'd also like to see Nothing go all in on the glyph lights instead of pulling back and making them more subtle. Of all the features the Nothing Phones have to offer, the glyphs are the ones that truly set the devices apart. Imagine having a flagship device with customizable glyphs. That could be enough to lure me away from Google's Pixel phones. Finally, I hope Nothing doesn't jack the phone price so high that its current crop of fans can't afford the device. If the company can pull this off and stay within the $600-$800 range, the Nothing Phone 3 could make some serious waves. As of now, there is no official release date (other than Q1 2025), so keep checking back. We'll report the date as soon as it's available.

Nothing Phone (3) will be a 'first step' toward 'AI-powered platform'
According to an alleged email from Nothing's Carl Pei, the upcoming Nothing Phone (3) is all about building towards a new "AI-powered platform." 2024 went by without a new flagship device from Nothing, with the company instead turning its attention toward its budget-oriented Nothing Phone (2a) series and the four variants that launched over the course of the year. It was previously confirmed that a Nothing Phone (3) would be coming in 2025, and now an alleged email to Nothing staff is offering hints as to what we should expect. Posted by Evan Blass on Twitter/X, the email goes over "Nothing's year of innovation" and leads up to a tease for the Nothing Phone (3), describing the device as a "flagship." But it's rather clear that the focus here is on AI, as Pei describes the device as a "first step toward our AI-powered platform" which will "redefine" the user experience. This was previously hinted at, but it's obvious that this is very much a central piece of the puzzle for this upcoming device. This year will mark the launch of our flagship Nothing Phone (3). It will introduce breakthrough innovations in user interface, taking our first step toward our Al- powered platform. We're aiming at redefining the user experience of personal computing devices - creating technology that knows you, makes your life easier, and is present where you are. Technology that enables us to achieve our greatest creative potential. There's no word just yet on when in 2025 Nothing will be launching its device, and the question also remains on whether or not any others will be hitting the market this year.

Leaked Nothing Phone 3 memo teases a flagship phone packed with AI
We've got a bit more information on the upcoming Nothing Phone 3, via a leaked memo - and it seems as though the delayed handset could be the most powerful and flagship-like Nothing phone yet, and packed with AI features. The leak comes from veteran tipster @evleaks (via Android Central), and is apparently an internal memo sent around Nothing by its CEO Carl Pei. The note talks about "even better products and greater innovation" through the course of 2025. Further on, the Nothing Phone 3 is described as a "flagship" and "landmark" smartphone - which certainly sounds like a step up from the company's existing models. As our Nothing Phone 2 review will tell you, earlier handsets have focused on value for money rather than top-end specs or performance. The memo also mentions a revamped user interface that leans heavily on AI, which in 2025 is to be expected. Pei has previously talked about wanting to get AI right, in an interface that's both helpful and enjoyable to use. The most recent phones we've had from Nothing are the Nothing Phone 2a and the Nothing Phone 2a Plus, both launched in March 2024 - and then there was a glow-in-the-dark variant of the latter handset launched in October. As for a true successor to the Nothing Phone 2 (which launched back in July 2023), last year we heard from Carl Pei that the handset would be pushed back to 2025 while the company worked on next-gen, AI-powered software. The aim then was to utilize AI that helped redefine how we interact with our devices (something we've also seen from Rabbit and others). The rumor is that the AI on board the Nothing Phone 3 will be powered by a Snapdragon chipset, and a number of other specs have also leaked out. According to one tipster, it's possible we might see several new Nothing phones by the middle of the year - including, perhaps, a Nothing Phone 3 Pro that will be the premium-level flagship handset discussed in this latest leak.
