Samsung just launched new flagship Galaxy tablets - and quietly removed this model
Samsung discontinued the Tab Plus model this year in favor of the standard 11-inch model. After adopting a new brand of processors for its tablets last year, Samsung is now releasing its 2025 line of flagship Galaxy tablets, this time with the MediaTek Dimensity 9400. The Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra and Tab S11 are available for purchase starting today, featuring One UI 8 on board and a redesigned S Pen. "The Galaxy Tab S11 series combines AI innovation with refined hardware to deliver a true multitasking experience that reflects Samsung's deep experience in mobile productivity," said Jay Kim, executive vice president at Samsung Electronics. "With the latest Galaxy AI and new multimodal capabilities, these flagship tablets enable ultimate efficiency -- empowering users to work, create, and flow more naturally across a versatile, large screen." Also: The tablet that made me ditch my Kindle and iPad now has a worthy follow-up The Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra is a 14.6-inch tablet with Wi-Fi 7 support, an anti-reflective AMOLED display, and internal storage variants from 256GB to 1TB. The base model S11 features an 11-inch AMOLED screen, Wi-Fi 6E support, and internal storage variants from 128GB to 512GB. Notably, a Plus model is absent this time. Samsung released the 14.6-inch Tab S10 Ultra and 12.4-inch S10 Plus last year, skipping the base model S10 altogether. This time, however, the company skipped the mid-sized model and opted to release only the base and Ultra configurations. This marks the biggest difference between the two released models, which may be a welcome change for consumers. The redesigned S Pen now comes with all S11 Series tablets and has a cone-shaped tip that Samsung says supports steeper tilt angles. This makes it easier to create shading and angled strokes in a way that feels more natural on a user's hand. The S Pen now features a hexagonal body, like a traditional pencil, which could help it feel more comfortable during long periods of use. Also: I've tested dozens of tablets and this is the first Android model to truly replace my iPad Pro The new S Pen supports Quick Tools and has a new Sticky Notes integration. So when you're drawing or writing with the S Pen, you can pull up a floating toolbar to change pen styles, colors, or settings quickly, like the Apple Pencil Pro's squeeze gesture does. If you need to write down a quick note, the Sticky Notes integration lets you create a note without leaving the page you're working on. For durability, both tablets feature an IP68 rating, making them dust-tight and capable of withstanding being submerged in water for up to 30 minuted in up to one meter depths. While this is the third consecutive line of Samsung tablets with an IP68 rating, it is still the only mainstream flagship tablet to be waterproof, with the exception of rugged tablets. For comparison, the iPad doesn't even have an IP rating. The Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra starts at $1,200 for the 256GB storage option with 12GB of RAM, though you can get up to 16GB of RAM if you choose a higher storage model. The Tab S11 tablet is available at a $800 starting price for the 128GB storage option with 12GB of RAM. Both tablets are available in Gray and Silver finishes.

Samsung's Latest Tablets Pack More AI Than the iPad. We Go Hands On With the Galaxy Tab S11
Don't miss out on our latest stories. Add PCMag as a preferred source on Google. Samsung has updated its high-end tablet lineup with the Galaxy Tab S11 and the Tab S11 Ultra, which both ship with Galaxy AI on board starting today. The two tablets share a similar design and many specs, while carrying over some features from previous generations. Here's what we learned in our time with Samsung's latest slates. Time-Tested and Refined Hardware Samsung makes some of the best Android tablets available, and its new devices look to keep the company on track. The smaller Galaxy Tab S11 features an 11-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a 2,560-by-1,600-pixel resolution, a refresh rate up to 120Hz, and a peak brightness of 1,600 nits. It is surrounded by a sizeable black bezel. The Tab S11 Ultra's huge 14.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display features a resolution of 2,960 by 1,848 pixels and an anti-reflection coating; otherwise, it has the same specs as its smaller sibling. The Ultra's thinner black bezel intrudes slightly upon the display for its front-facing camera, though the notch is smaller than last year's Tab S10 Ultra. The Galaxy Tab S11 measures 6.51 by 9.99 by 0.22 inches (HWD) and weighs 1.06 pounds, while the Tab S11 Ultra is giant at 8.21 by 12.85 by 0.20 inches and weighs 1.52 pounds. The new Ultra is a hair thinner and 0.06 ounces lighter than the S10 Ultra (8.21 by 12.85 by 0.21 inches, 1.58 pounds). Perhaps Samsung slimmed its slate down to catch up to Apple's iPad Pro, which is also 0.20 inches thick. Both Samsung tablets have a 13MP rear camera, while the S11 Ultra adds an 8MP ultra-wide. They both have 12MP front-facing cameras. The two devices are available in Gray and Silver. The Armor Aluminum frame and glass create a cohesive package that feels well-balanced in the hand, just like the tablets' predecessors. Samsung redesigned the included S Pen stylus, moving to a hexagonal shape similar to a wooden pencil with a larger nib. This new S Pen feels similar to using a No. 2 pencil, and sketching on the Tabs' large screens felt natural. The tablets and S Pens are IP68-rated for dust and water protection, so you can enjoy them both by the pool. Inside, MediaTek Brings the Brains Samsung uses a MediaTek 9400+ processor to power the Tab S11 line, an upgrade from the MediaTek 9300+ in the Tab S10 series. Samsung did not specify how the two chips differ, but MediaTek says the 9400+ is built more specifically for AI applications and is 20% faster than the MediaTek 9400 at agentic AI calculations. The Tab S11 series runs Android 16 and includes Galaxy AI, Samsung's suite of AI tools. For power, the Tab S11 packs an 8,400mAh battery while the Tab S11 Ultra has an 11,600mAh battery. Both charge at up to 45W via wire. Samsung didn't say how long the batteries will last. The Galaxy Tab S11 comes with 12GB of RAM and three storage configurations: 128GB ($799.99), 256GB ($859.99), and 512GB ($979.99). Meanwhile, the Tab S11 Ultra comes in three varieties: 12GB RAM with 256GB of storage ($1,199.99), 12GB of RAM with 256GB of storage ($1,319.99), and 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage ($1,619.99). Samsung continues to offer a microSD card slot, too, so you can add up to 2TB using a microSD card. The new Samsung Galaxy Tab S11 line is available to order starting today, Sept. 4. We expect to receive review units soon and will have full reviews posted in the weeks ahead. In the meantime, check out our picks for the best Android tablets to see what else is out there.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra hands-on: Really thin, redesigned S Pen and... remember Dex?
Someone recently asked me: Who even cares about Android tablets anymore? If that's you, you're probably feeling the same indifference towards premium Android tablets. Even Google has conceded it won't be making new tablets and seems to have already forgotten about the Pixel Tablet. But that's not stopping Samsung from releasing the 11th-generation Galaxy Tab S11 series, comprising the 11-inch standard model and 14.6-inch Ultra. The latter is the more interesting of the pair, as it's not only what Samsung says is its thinnest tablet ever, but also offers new Dex multitasking features and, of course, AI tools. Plus, in case you forgot, the company's hallmark S Pen stylus still exists, and has received yet another redesign alongside the launch of the series. These days, my stylus use is limited to the ones for e-paper writing tablets like the reMarkable Paper Pro and the Kindle Scribe, but I remain a huge fan of the S Pen. I've loved Samsung's stylus since my time as an Omnia II owner, back when it was like a mini retractable pointer that extended like old car antennas. The version accompanying the Tab S11 Ultra has a hexagonal shape to its grip that makes it more closely resemble a No. 2 pencil, and its nib has also been tweaked to be more conical. From my brief time with it at a hands-on session, the latest S Pen didn't feel remarkable. It's certainly a lot lighter than the reMarkable Paper Pro's Marker Plus. But despite its similarity to a No. 2 pencil, Samsung's new stylus didn't feel better to hold or write with than the Kindle Scribe's pen, which is a simple cylindrical piece. I actually like how smooth the latter's edges are, and both seemed to deliver similarly fluid and responsive writing. I didn't feel much resistance as I dragged the S Pen's nib across the Tab S11 Ultra's screen to scrawl out "Hello Engadget." Unlike some previous S Pens that had Bluetooth-powered special features like remote camera control, this version has no additional connectivity. It draws power from the tablet's screen like other EMR (electromagnetic resonance) tablets and won't need to be charged. Samsung did make it attach magnetically to the S11 Ultra, which can help prevent you misplacing it in a cafe, for example. But from previous experience, I can say that the magnets aren't strong enough to keep the S Pen on the tablet if you toss it in a purse or bag. You'll need a case with a dedicated holder to truly secure the stylus. Speaking of, Samsung has made some new covers and keyboards for the Tab S11 Ultra, since its pogo pins have been moved from the bottom edge to its rear. This means none of your old or existing Samsung keyboard cases will be compatible, and you'll have to buy the new version if you want to turn the S11 Ultra into a competent 2-in-1. Samsung improved the cases for its latest tablet, though, and it seems the repositioned pogo pins have allowed the company to make its origami covers a single piece instead of a two-parter. The new Pro keyboard case won't be available at launch, so you'll have to wait to get it and perhaps rely on a Bluetooth accessory in the meantime. Or you can get the Slim Keyboard, which doesn't have a trackpad. Once you get a working keyboard connected, you'll likely have a nice time getting work done on the S11 Ultra. That's thanks in large part to the improved Dex mode, Samsung's multitasking software for Android devices. The new tablet ships with One UI 8, which gets new multitasking features like Extended Mode and support for up to four dedicated customizable workspaces. The former basically lets you wirelessly extend your display to other screens, like another tablet or even a laptop or monitor, to simulate a dual-monitor setup. I didn't get to see this for myself yet, so I can't speak to the latency and ease of use, but the idea is nice in theory, and is something iPads can't do yet. You might not even need extra screens, though, since the Tab S11 Ultra's display is a roomy 14.6 inches, which Samsung says is its largest yet. It offers the vibrancy and brightness that's typical of the company's AMOLEDs, meaning colors are richly saturated and make for an enjoyable multimedia experience. Like recent models, the S11 Ultra's panel refreshes at up to 120Hz for smoother scrolling and animations, and has a fairly sharp resolution of 2,960 x 1,848. If you really care about numbers, then know that the Tab S11 Ultra gets up to 1,600 nits of brightness, as well. All this is powered by a 3nm MediaTek Dimensity 9400+ processor, which the company said is a first for its tablets and brings 20 percent improved CPU and GPU performance over the previous generation. The neural processing unit (NPU) also sees a jump of 30 percent, according to Samsung. That means AI tools like Writing Assist and Drawing Assist should be faster and smoother. In addition to those tools, which help you adjust the tone of your messages or turn your rough sketches into full-fledged art, the Tab S11 Ultra will also support Google's Gemini Live so you can have more natural conversations with the assistant. Samsung is also rolling out a Galaxy AI overlay for its Notes and browser apps, allowing you to drag around a moveable panel on top of those windows for easier reference. Despite how I started this article, I've actually long been a fan of Samsung's Galaxy Tab S line. I love how thin and sturdy they are -- they just feel like sharp gadgets to wield. And at just 5.1mm (0.2 inches) thin and weighing just 1.53 pounds (692 grams), the Tab S11 Ultra is impressively svelte. Holding it up with just one hand while I aimed my camera at it felt effortless, and despite measuring 8.2 x 12.8 inches, the tablet was relatively easy to maneuver. By the way, the S11 Ultra's bezels measure 5.2mm, meaning even the barely-there borders are thicker than the device. And in case you needed a comparison, the 13-inch iPad Pro from 2024 was also 5.1mm thin. The Tab S11 Ultra has a bigger screen while keeping that slim profile. It also is rated IP68 so it can withstand about the same amount of dust and water ingress as the average smartphone today. While I wasn't able to test the battery life of the Tab S11 and Tab S11 Ultra at the hands-on event, I think their respective 8,400mAh and 11,600mAh cells should provide ample runtime to get work done on the go. Samsung says they'll both last about 13 hours on a charge. I'll take this opportunity to point out that the Tab S11 is a much less premium device, with noticeably thicker bezels around its 10.9-inch screen. It supports Wi-Fi 6E, while the Ultra gets up to Wi-Fi 7, and it has a headphone jack if you still want one. The Ultra, meanwhile, does not have a 3.5mm audio socket. In most other respects, the Tab S11 and its Ultra sibling share similar specs. Both have 13-megapixel rear cameras and 12MP front sensors, though the Ultra has an additional 8MP ultrawide setup. They support the redesigned S Pen, have in-screen fingerprint sensors, use the same processor, start at the same 12GB of RAM and go up to 2TB of storage, all while running Android 16. I'm truly intrigued and tempted by the Tab S11 Ultra's promise of portable productivity in a handsome package, but I simply don't use tablets in my life. My personal laptop is a Samsung Galaxy Book, and that feels like a suitable medium-screen to join my small screen (phone), big screen (TV) and tiny screen (watch). I don't need to throw a smedium screen into the mix. I already have a Kindle and a reMarkable Paper Pro that take the place of books and notebooks, too. That said, for the non-Apple people who use tablets as laptop replacements, artists who want to sketch in color or simply anyone who just likes a 15-inch thin and light touchscreen for whatever reason, the Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra should be a worthy option. It's just going to be quite the hefty investment at $1,200 to start. That's costlier than most laptops, and doesn't include accessories like keyboard cases or mice yet. The base Tab S11 goes for $800, which is also more expensive than the plethora of midrange laptops on the market, so you'll be paying a premium for portability.

Samsung's Galaxy Tab S11 Tablets Come in Two Sizes: Big and Absolutely Huge
Those are the two sizes you get for the Galaxy Tab S11 and Tab S11 Ultra. There are only so many ways to make a tablet. If you're Acer, you give most of your new Iconia tablets kickstands. If you're Apple, well, you just say it's a new iPad and call it a day. And if you're Samsung, you announce the new Galaxy Tab S11 and S11 Ultra and make everybody play a game of "spot the difference" between the two Android tablets. At IFA 2025, Samsung debuted the two new tablets, and yes, you may need ChatGPT to create a table comparing the two to see what one has that the other doesn't. Or you can just keep reading my blog post. Let's start with pricing because something that costs less usually tells you it has less, and that definitely applies here. The Tab S11 starts at $799.99 and comes with 128GB of storage with 12GB of RAM, and the Tab S11 Ultra starts at $1,119.99 and comes with 256GB with 16GB of RAM. Spec up the storage, and you're looking at a wallet that's going to feel it. The Tab S11 also has a smaller 11-inch display versus the Tab S11 Ultra's 14.6-inch screen. Like I said previously, the Tab S11 Ultra is a big ol' tray of a tablet. That bigger screen also comes with an anti-reflective coating to reduce glare. Both screens at least support up to 120Hz refresh rates. A bigger screen also means a larger body, which means more weight. As a result, the Tab S11 weighs 1.06 pounds compared to the 1.52 pounds for the Tab S11 Ultra. That extra weight on the Tab S11 Ultra isn't just airâ€"it's a larger 11,600mAh battery versus the Tab S11's 8,400mAh lithium-ion cell. The rest of the tech specs for the two Samsung tablets are more or less identical. Both have the same MediaTek Dimensity 9400+ chipset, IP68 water- and dust-resistance, quad speakers, and in-display fingerprint readers. Both also have microSD card slots for expanding storage, and both support a redesigned S Pen stylus that has a hexagonal shape with flat sides that's more like a pencil; it's even included in the box. The small differences are in the cameras and the Wi-Fi speeds. The Tab S11 has one 13-megapixel rear camera and a 12-megapixel ultrawide selfie camera; the Tab S11 Ultra has two rear cameras (13-megapixel main and 8-megapixel ultrawide) and a 12-megapixel ultrawide selfie camera. For Wi-Fi, the Tab S11 is stuck with Wi-Fi 6E, while the Tab S11 Ultra supports the newest Wi-Fi 7. But the specs for a tablet barely even matter in 2025. It's what software tricks they can do to help you be more productive that matters most. In that regard, the two Samsung tablets have an improved DeX mode, which switches their Android software from a tablet-optimized one to one that functions like a desktop computer. New for the Tab S11 and Tab S11 Ultra is an "Extended Mode" that lets you use DeX across two connected monitors instead of one. DeX also supports up to four desktop workspaces, so you can organize your app windows into spaces just like you could on macOS and Windows. As for Gemini integration, there's pretty much all the stuff seen in Samsung's Galaxy S25 and new Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 foldables. You get features like Writing Assist to help you rewrite emails and messages in different tones, live translations, Circle to Search, and a slew of other camera and photo editing functionalities that use generative AI. Both the Tab S11 and Tab S11 Ultra will be available starting today, Sept. 4. The two tablets come in gray or silver.

Samsung launches long-awaited Galaxy Tab S11 slates, with one predictable omission
This little-known Google tool has become my secret weapon in the kitchen Samsung's flagship tablet line just got a major refresh -- but only at the top and bottom. Today, the company announced the Galaxy Tab S11 and Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra, skipping the Plus model that once fleshed out the middle of the previously three-slate lineup. And as great as the laptop-replacement Tab S10 Ultra was, its impressive successor is the thinnest such powerful device has ever been. Updates going beyond incredible thinness The Edge and Galaxy Z influence can't be missed The Tab S11 series leans hard into performance, portability, and Samsung's growing suite of AI tools. Both models run on MediaTek's Dimensity 9400+ processor, paired with Dynamic AMOLED 2X displays that top out at 120Hz and 1,600 nits of peak brightness. That makes them not just Samsung's thinnest tablets yet -- at just 5.1mm for the Ultra -- but also its most powerful, with notable CPU, GPU, and NPU gains over last year's Tab S10 family. AI is the headline feature here, and Samsung isn't shy about it. With One UI 8, the tablets ship with the same Galaxy AI features we've seen trickle across the company's phones: Writing Assist for tone tweaks, Drawing Assist for sketch cleanup, and a floating overlay that can summarize or explain on-screen content without breaking your workflow. Gemini Live also adds flair and function, letting you use the device's camera or its entire screen to get contextual help from the model in real time. Additional important refinements around the edges Samsung DeX also gets welcome enhancements in the form of Extended Mode for true dual-screen setups. Pair a Tab S11 with an external monitor and you can drag apps across displays or dedicate up to four separate workspaces for different projects. It's not hard to see Samsung pitching this as a laptop replacement for professionals who travel light. The redesigned S Pen is another recipient of much appreciated refinements, now with a hexagonal body for better grip and a cone-shaped tip that boosts tilt sensitivity. In the release hype, Samsung's pushing it hard alongside partner apps like Goodnotes, Clip Studio Paint, and LumaFusion. The South Korean mobile tech giant is clearly pitching the Tab S11 series as both a workhorse and a creative studio. The 14.6-inch Tab S11 Ultra packs either 12GB or 16GB of RAM and from 256GB to 1TB of storage, with only the 1TB variant offering the full 16GB of system memory. Meanwhile, the 11-inch Tab S11 gets 12GB of RAM and storage ranging from 128GB to 512GB. Both models support microSD expansion and come with quad speakers, IP68 durability, and 45W fast charging -- though the charger, as usual, is sold separately. Prices start at $799.99 for the Tab S11 and $1,199.99 for the Tab S11 Ultra, with preorders open Sept. 4 in gray and silver finishes. What's missing is just as notable as what's new: the Galaxy Tab S11+ didn't make the cut this year. While Samsung may have decided to permanently slim down its tablet lineup, offering staggered yearly launches is just as likely. I went hands-on with the Samsung Galaxy Tab S11 -- and I'm already dreaming about all the work I could do on it
Why you can trust Tom's Guide Our writers and editors spend hours analyzing and reviewing products, services, and apps to help find what's best for you. Find out more about how we test, analyze, and rate. There are two new challengers for a spot on our best Android tablets list, as Samsung has launched the Galaxy Tab S11 and Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra. Unveiled as part of Samsung's IFA announcements, these two premium tablets are equipped with a number of upgrades that have got me excited to try them again, with all the apps I need for work, so I can see how close they come to replacing my laptop. The Galaxy Tab S11 (from $799/£799) measures 11 inches, while the Ultra remains a massive 14.6 inches. But while its display is expansive, the Tab S11 Ultra (starting at $1,199/£1,199) is the slimmest Galaxy Tab that Samsung's yet produced, measuring 5.1mm (0.2 inches) thick. It's lighter than the last generation too, at 692 grams (24.4 ounces). The 469g (16.5 ounces), 11-inch model may not be a record-breaker like the Ultra is, but it's still a welcome sight, as Samsung only produced the Galaxy Tab S10 series in Plus and Ultra variants. Given that the rival iPad Pro offers both 11-inch and 13-inch versions, and the OnePlus Pad 3, our current best Android tablet, doesn't have a small version, Samsung is smart to corner this niche. Samsung promises up to 1,600 nits of brightness from these tablets' AMOLED 2X displays, which should keep Samsung's slates at the top of the tablet brightness charts. And there's a little more display space to appreciate that brightness on the Ultra, as it now has a new, smaller notch design (albeit with one fewer camera). To accompany these tablets, Samsung has a redesigned S Pen, with a hexagonal barrel and a solid cone tip. It's a big change from previous, soft-tipped S Pens, and there's no longer a magnetic strip on the back to store it on either. But for users familiar with the Apple Pencil on the best iPads, this should feel quite comfortable. For multitaskers, Samsung has made some upgrades to the Tab S11's DeX desktop mode. With a monitor attached, you can now expand your workspace, rather than just mirror it, with Extended mode. And if you want even more space, DeX now supports up to four workspaces to arrange your apps across. Samsung's Galaxy AI features benefit from the tablet's large screen. Like the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Google Gemini can now be used in a movable overlay, allowing you to place the output from your ever-ready chatbot where you need it as you switch between apps. And features like Drawing Assist are definitely at their best when used with a stylus on a large canvas. More traditional productivity apps, like Notion, Goodnotes, LumaFusion and Clip Studio Paint, come pre-installed on the Tab S11 series, and with bonuses like templates or free trials as a deal-sweetener. Samsung's clearly still keen on users trying to use their tablets more like laptops, in case the upgrades to DeX didn't make that clear. Driving the Tab S11 is a Dimensity 9400 Plus chipset, the first 3nm chip Samsung has used on a tablet. The result of this new chip is apparently performance increases of 24% for the CPU, 27% for the GPU and 33% for the NPU over the Tab S10. Users can opt for 128GB, 256GB or 512GB of storage for the Galaxy Tab S11, and pick from 256GB, 512GB and 1TB in the case of the Tab S11 Ultra. By default, the tablets are Wi-Fi only, but 5G can be optionally added to any model for a little extra cash. Our full review of the Galaxy Tab S11 series is on the way, but the specs and feature list alone show Samsung is serious about reclaiming its crown as the iPad Pro alternative of choice. The productivity potential, between the updates to DeX, the redesigned S Pen and of course the new chipset, looks higher than ever, but anyone wanting the best tablet for their money should still find that the Tab S11 or Tab S11 Ultra can easily handle the basics of browsing and streaming. But this isn't all that Samsung is announcing at IFA. Take a look at our Galaxy S25 FE hands-on for the low-down on Samsung's new entry-level flagship phone. Samsung Launches $1,200 Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra With Thin Design and Revamped S-Pen
Samsung today announced its newest tablet lineup, introducing the Galaxy Tab S11 and the Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra. We were able to take a quick look at the new tablet options prior to when Samsung launched them, giving us an early idea of how they compare to Apple's iPads. The smaller Tab S11 has an 11-inch display with a 120Hz refresh rate, and both tablets support 1,600 nits peak brightness. An upgraded 3-nanometer processor provides faster performance, more responsive AI features, and smoother multitasking, according to Samsung. There is a dual rear-camera setup in the S11 Ultra, featuring a 13-megapixel wide-angle lens and an 8-megapixel ultra wide-angle lens. The S11 has a single 13-megapixel rear camera, and both models have a 12-megapixel ultra wide selfie camera. Samsung includes a microSD slot in its tablets, so both support up to 2TB of microSD card storage. The standard S11 has 12GB RAM, while the S11 Ultra has 16GB. Both tablets work with Samsung's redesigned S-Pen for an Apple Pencil-like experience. The S-Pen has a cone-shaped tip that supports increased tilt angles for improved control, and the hex design is meant to feel more ergonomic in the hand. It doesn't use Bluetooth anymore, so you don't need to remember to manually charge it. Just stick it on the S11 and it will charge automatically, much like the Apple Pencil. Samsung upgraded its DeX smartphone integration feature to improve multitasking. Extended Mode turns the Galaxy Tab S11 devices into external monitors for a dual-screen setup, with DeX running across both screens for better multitasking. Users can drag and drop apps between displays, and create up to four custom workspaces. Gemini Live is integrated for real-time screen sharing and visual input, allowing users to have a conversation with Gemini about what they're looking at. Gemini is also able to complete tasks in and across apps, plus Samsung includes Drawing Assist and Writing Assist AI features. The Galaxy Tab S11 and S11 Ultra are available starting today from the Samsung website. The Galaxy Tab S11 is priced starting at $800, while the Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra is priced starting at $1,200.

I tried the Samsung Galaxy Tab S11, and it's a productivity powerhouse that takes the fight to iPadOS 26
Samsung has announced the Samsung Galaxy Tab S11, its latest compact premium tablet, which returns to the 11-inch form factor last seen with the Galaxy Tab S9. The new tablet launches alongside the Samsung Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra, which retains the massive 14.6-inch display from last year's Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra. The Galaxy Tab S11 is, in typical Samsung fashion, equipped with great components for its price. Its 11-inch AMOLED display has a resolution of 2560 x 1600, and a maximum brightness of 1,600 nits. It comes with the MediaTek Dimensity 9400+ chipset, between 12GB and 16GB of RAM, and an 8,400mAh battery with 45W wired charging. The Galaxy Tab S11 starts at $799 / £799 / AU$1,399 for the model with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, and it comes in Grey and Silver finishes. Like its Ultra sibling, the Galaxy Tab S11 runs One UI 8, which is based on Android 16, straight out of the box. This software package brings new intuitive AI features and a reworked DeX mode to Samsung's tablet experience, offering a bridge between a traditional tablet experience and a laptop-style UI with resizable windows and multiple desktops. In addition to these bumped-up hardware specs, the Galaxy Tab S11 comes with a redesigned S-Pen. The new version of the popular accessory has a hexagonally ridged design that makes it easier to hold, as well as a new cone-shaped nib designed to make writing and drawing feel more fluid. It now snaps onto the side of the tablet magnetically, rather than into a groove on the back of the tablet. At a recent Samsung event, I went hands-on with the Galaxy Tab S11, and though my time with the new tablet was limited, I was able to get a sense of its new features and user experience. As is standard for Samsung, the Galaxy Tab S11 is wonderfully built - the chassis is all aluminum, and it strikes a great balance between being sturdy and portably light (the unit weighs 469g, about as much as the 11-inch iPad Air). The display is sharp, bright, and responsive, and the tall 16:10 aspect ratio makes it ideal for watching videos, or even one-handed use if you can handle the weight. Having reviewed the Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 FE Plus (try saying that five times at speed) earlier this year, my expectations for performance were limited - but the Galaxy Tab S11 feels snappy and responsive thanks to that high-powered Dimensity 9400+ chipset. I didn't get a chance to test any intensive apps, but even with multiple windows open, I didn't clock any stuttering. The new S-Pen is an absolute coup as well - the ridged edges make it much more comfortable to hold than a smooth stylus, and the new conical nib feels very smooth against the glass. Writing and drawing in Samsung's pre-installed Notes app was noticeably smoother than writing on an iPad with an Apple Pencil, but the tablet's handwriting-to-text function struggled to get it right. Mind you, that's more to do with the software than the stylus, which is genuinely excellent. Additionally, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S11 is possibly the most AI-focused tablet I've come across. While using the tablet, you'll see icons and suggestions from Google Gemini and Galaxy AI that open into intuitive windows. These overlays hover over your current task, rather than taking over the entire screen - it's a smart approach that keeps things feeling fluid. Speaking of multitasking, I'm a huge fan of the way DeX works on the Galaxy Tab S11. Rather than manually switching between each UI mode, you now enter DeX by dragging an open app down from the top of the screen, which leaves it hovering as a freely resizable window. To get back to tablet mode, you simply swipe up and hold as you would to see all of your open apps, which allows you to switch between your tablet-style space and up to four DeX desktops. That's more freedom than any other tablet allows, though, as CNET reports, these features will also come to the Galaxy Tab S10 Plus and Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra. There's been much debate over whether tablets could, or even should, replace laptops and desktop computers, if only they'd adopt a more computer-like UI. Apple has certainly made waves with this year's announcement of iPadOS 26, which finally brings freely resizable windows and a desktop-style menu bar to Apple's tablet experience. DeX is certainly mature enough at this point to put up some strong competition to Apple's incoming update - but Samsung tablets (and Android tablets more generally) still suffer from a lack of professional software support. Samsung highlighted various deals for apps like Notion and video editor LumaFusion during the presentation, so there's clearly some drive to change this. Personally, I'd love to see more high-end video, photo, and audio software come to the Samsung Galaxy Tab S11 - DeX is an excellent experience that builds on years of updates and tweaks, and could seriously challenge the iPad with the right software to support it. The Galaxy Tab S11 and Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra are available now in the US and UK and for pre-order in Australia. As usual, generous trade-in offers and discounts apply and vary by territory, so be sure to check the Samsung online store before purchasing. Samsung's new Galaxy Tab S11 and S11 Ultra bring AI to the forefront
Introducing the new Samsung Galaxy Tab tablets. Credit: Alex Perry / Mashable The next generation of Samsung tablets is here. As of Sept. 4, you can now shop Samsung's Galaxy Tab S11 and S11 Ultra models. The new tablets double down on Galaxy AI and are the thinnest tablets yet, measuring .22 inches (S11) and .20 inches (S11 Ultra) thick -- the exact same thicknesses as the iPad Pro 11 and 13-inch models. While the body of the tablets didn't see much change from the previous S10 generation, the internal processing and AI capabilities make this what is expected to be Samsung's most advanced tablet yet. Both tablets are equipped with Android 16 and a One UI 8 operating system. The new operating system equips the tablets with Galaxy AI that offers Drawing and Writing Assist as well as Gemini Live. The S Pen, which comes included with both the S11 and S11 Ultra, did get a redesign. It features a new cone-shaped pen tip, allowing for better precision and an ergonomic hold while you work in apps like Noteshelf 3, ArcSite, and Picsart. What might be most exciting about the new S11 and S11 Ultra tablets is the enhanced Samsung DeX that allows you to multitask across apps so you can simultaneous take a meeting and take notes on the same device. This signals a trend across different brands' tablets, as Apple and now Samsung both seem to be edging their tablets toward laptop capabilities. The Samsung Galaxy Tab S11 has an 11-inch screen, a 13 MP rear camera, and a 12 MP Ultra Wide front camera, while the Samsung Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra has a 14.6-inch screen, a 13 MP and 8 MP Ultra Wide rear camera, and a 12 MP Ultra Wide front camera. Both tablets come in either gray or silver.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S11, Ultra feature Dimensity 9400+
Samsung debuts Galaxy Tab S11 lineup with bigger Ultra, sleeker design. Samsung has officially released the Galaxy Tab S11 and Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra, introducing the latest iteration of its premium Android tablet series. The updated lineup features a streamlined standard model and an enhanced Ultra version characterized by a larger display and reduced profile. The standard Galaxy Tab S11 effectively replaces the previous Plus model, which has been discontinued. It provides similar performance capabilities within a more compact design. The Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra sets itself apart with its expansive 14.6-inch display. This panel is both thinner and lighter than the 14-inch display featured on the preceding model, maintaining a high refresh rate of 120 Hz and high resolution. Internally, both the Galaxy Tab S11 and Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra are equipped with the MediaTek Dimensity 9400+ processor, an enhanced version of the Dimensity 9400. Manufacturing on a 3nm process, this chip provides a reported 24% increase in CPU performance and a 27% improvement in GPU capabilities. Powering these tablets are different battery configurations. The Galaxy Tab S11 is supplied with an 8,400 mAh battery, while the Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra contains a higher capacity 11,600 mAh battery unit. Both models support fast charging up to 45W. The camera systems have undergone revisions. The Galaxy Tab S11 features a single 13 MP sensor on the rear, complemented by a 12 MP ultra-wide front camera. The Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra retains the 13 MP rear sensor but now includes a single 12 MP ultra-wide front camera, removing the dual-camera setup used on the previous iteration. The rear camera configuration remains consistent across both models, incorporating a 13 MP primary sensor and an 8 MP ultra-wide sensor. Software enhancements include an upgraded DeX mode, now supporting four independent workspaces and multi-screen setups. A new floating AI overlay has been added, along with improvements to One UI 8, which is based on Android 15. These enhancements include Galaxy AI features designed to assist with writing, drawing, and audio summarization. The SPen for both the S11 and Ultra has been redesigned with a hexagonal button and offered with an optional magnetic charging case. These tablets both feature an IP68 rating and support microSD card expansion up to 2 TB. The Galaxy Tab S11 is priced starting at $799 for the 128 GB configuration, while the Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra starts at $1,199. Prices increase with higher storage capacities. The new tablets are available for purchase in regions where the previous S10 FE models are currently in stock while awaiting next-year refreshes.

Samsung's Galaxy Tab S11 series could finally make your next iPad purchase a tough decision
Though September tends to be synonymous with Apple and the launch of its new iPhones, Samsung isn't letting its fans go without an exciting announcement. Similar to last year, the Korean-based giant unveiled the all-new Galaxy Tab S11 series, alongside its latest addition to the Galaxy S25 lineup at its Unpacked event. This time around, the Tab S11 series might finally give you enough reason to rethink your next iPad purchase and consider making the switch to Samsung. Samsung reveals the Galaxy Tab S11 and S11 Ultra As announced on the Samsung Newsroom, the company has taken the wraps off its latest innovations, which include the Galaxy Tab S11 series. Powered by a 3nm processor, the new series consists of two devices: the standard Galaxy Tab S11 and the higher-tier Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra. With the S11 Ultra packing the MediaTek Dimensity 9400+ processor, Samsung claims that NPU performance has improved by up to 33% compared to the previous generation, while CPU and GPU performance have improved by 24% and 27%, respectively. Design-wise, the Galaxy Tab S11 series is Samsung's "thinnest tablet design yet," with the S11 Ultra model coming in at only 5.11mm and featuring 5.2mm bezels. Both the standard and Ultra models feature Dynamic AMOLED 2X displays with up to a 120Hz refresh rate. Samsung describes the set of devices as its "most intelligent and advanced tablet experience to date," and it is the first Galaxy tablet to feature One UI 8. Of course, no launch in 2025 is complete without a few AI features integrated, and Samsung is leaving no stone unturned thanks to Galaxy AI. Some of the AI features you'll find in the new S25 tabs include Gemini Live, Drawing Assist, and Writing Assist. If you're anything like me and often miss AI the most when you're multitasking, yet don't want to go out of your way to access it, Samsung has made sure Galaxy AI stays within reach. While multitasking, Galaxy AI will be available in a moveable and compact overlay, presented in a floating view. From its description alone, it sounds a bit like Apple's Slide Over, except it's focused on AI rather than just app multitasking. The Galaxy Tab S11 series brings smarter multitasking to keep you productive With the Galaxy Tab S11 Series, Samsung is also clearly putting its users' productivity front and center. Thanks to a more powerful Samsung DeX experience and the all-new Extended Mode, users can transform their tablet into a dual-screen setup with an external monitor. You'll now also be able to create up to four customized workspaces, each tailored to a specific task. This is perfect for those who like to keep the different activities they do on their tablet organized and easily accessible. Available in two timeless colors, Gray and Silver, the Tab S11 series will launch starting September 4. The standard Galaxy Tab S11 starts at $799.99, while the premium tier starts at $1,199.99.

Samsung's Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra Brings Android 16 and MediaTek Power to the Premium Tablet Game - Phandroid
Samsung just dropped the Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra, and honestly, it's shaping up to be the Android tablet powerhouse we've been waiting for. After the Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra impressed us but left room for improvement, Samsung seems to have listened. The biggest change? Samsung ditched Qualcomm for MediaTek's new Dimensity 9400+ processor, paired with ARM's Immortalis-G925 MC12 GPU that brings ray tracing to the tablet world. That's a bold move that should deliver serious performance gains over the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in its predecessor. The 14.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display gets even brighter than before, addressing one of the few complaints about the S10 Ultra's outdoor visibility. What really caught our attention is the Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra shipping with Android 16 right out of the box. Samsung's clearly committed to staying ahead of the software curve, and the enhanced Galaxy AI features should make this tablet feel genuinely smart rather than just powerful. The base model still starts with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage, but you can now spec it up to a whopping 16GB RAM with 1TB storage for serious multitasking. The build quality looks unchanged, which isn't necessarily bad since the S10 Ultra felt premium. At 1.53 pounds, it maintains that "Great Dane tablet that thinks it's a lap dog" vibe we mentioned before, but the improved performance should make that weight feel more justified. The Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra hits stores September 4 starting at $1,199.99. It's not cheap, but for Android tablet fans who want the absolute best, this looks like Samsung's strongest offering yet.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra And Tab S11 Launch With Slim Design, AI Features, Dimensity 9400+ Chip, And Massive 14.6-Inch Displays
Samsung has once again pushed the boundaries of what a premium tablet should be with the launch of its new Galaxy Tab S11 series. The company has officially unveiled the lineup that packs looks and performance in a single package, while also equipping them with a heavy dose of AI features. The company showcased two models, the Galaxy Tab S11 and the more powerful Tab S11 Ultra, which will cater to everyone from casual users to professionals who demand high-end features and much more. The Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra is the highlight of the lineup, which is as thin as the 13-inch OLED iPad Pro with an M4 chip, coming in at just 5.1mm. However, the dimensions are quite different as it features a larger 14.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display, and despite the huge size, it is impressively portable at 692 grams of weight. The screen itself is stunning, offering a 120Hz refresh rate, an anti-reflective coating, and peak brightness of 1,600 nits, perfect for watching content, creating, or simply working in brighter environments. The Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9400+ chip, coupled with up to 16GB of RAM and as much as 1TB of storage capacity. However, the storage does not end here, as you will also have the option to upgrade it via a microSD card slot to a staggering 2TB. However, it is not all about the specifications and performance on paper, as the company has equipped the devices with its deep integration of Galaxy AI features within One UI 8, which is based on Android 16. This means that from summarizing text to refining sketches and handling smart multitasking, AI plays a central role in how the tablet adapts to your workflow. The battery life of the Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra is equally impressive, offering up to 23 hours of video playback and supporting 45W of fast charging. The device is built with durability in mind as well, with an Armor Aluminum frame and IP68 dust and water resistance. Samsung has also seen fit to perfect the S Pen, making it lighter, hexagonal for better grip, and ready to support the new AI features, but it does not give you the option to charge wirelessly, which could be a drawback for some. Apart from the Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra, the company has also announced the smaller Galaxy Tab S11, which features an 11-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel as well with a resolution of 2560 by 1600, and also comes with a 120Hz refresh rate with a peak brightness level of 1,600 nits. It is also surprisingly thin at just 5.5mm. It also features the same MediaTek Dimensity 9400+ chipset for enhanced performance, paired with 12GB of RAM and up to 512GB of storage capacity, and can be extended via microSD card to up to 2TB. The smaller of the two also comes with a bigger 8,400mAh battery that will offer up to 18 hours of video playback and can be charged at the same 45W speed. It is built tough with Armor Aluminum and features IP68 dust and water resistance, keeping up with its bigger, more premium sibling. It also comes with the same S Pen. Both models come with desktop experience with DeX support, which turns the S11 and S11 Ultra into a mini workstation. You have the option to connect an external display with the devices or attach a mouse or keypad for extended navigation and controls. Both products also feature 7 years of OS upgrades and security updates, extending the device's lifespan well into the future.
