Besides workforce development, the deal also focuses on enhancing research and development capabilities. Further, Nvidia will support the identification and establishment of AI research centres that will address pressing technological challenges and develop transformative solutions across sectors, the release said. The southern state and the tech giant will encourage joint research initiatives that contribute to the growth of AI knowledge and applications. "This partnership with Nvidia marks a decisive step in our vision to position Andhra Pradesh as a national leader in Artificial Intelligence. By equipping 10,000 students with cutting-edge AI skills and supporting our startup ecosystem, we are laying the foundation for a future-ready economy driven by innovation, research, and entrepreneurship," said IT Minister Nara Lokesh. The deal will also include the sharing of experience and best practices in establishing next-generation 'AI Factories', said the release. Nvidia will provide insights from its global expertise in operationalising 'AI Factories' that serve as hubs for innovation, industry collaboration, and talent incubation aimed at democratisation of AI. The Andhra Pradesh government intends to facilitate up to 500 AI-focused startups from the state in applying to the Nvidia Inception Programme during the term of this deal, subject to the programme's eligibility criteria and availability. Nvidia Asia South managing director Vishal Dhupar said this initiative reflects the company's commitment to democratising access to AI education, accelerating research, and enabling startups to innovate at scale.

Under the leadership of Hon'ble IT Minister @naralokesh Garu, we have entered into an MoU with @nvidia to build a strong and inclusive AI ecosystem in the state." "With support from NVIDIA for curriculum and training, 10,000 engineering students will receive skill training over the next two years, while 500 AI startups from AP will gain access to its Inception Program for global exposure and key resources," CM added. CM Naidu further added that plans are underway to establish India's first AI University in collaboration with NVIDIA to shape the infrastructure and research capabilities. "From education and skilling to research and innovation, this initiative is laying the foundation for a Swarna Andhra Pradesh," he added. Andhra Pradesh is actively working towards developing the state's AI ecosystem. The state government has announced the development of India's first Quantum Computing Village. The 50-acre facility in Amaravati, which the state government previously announced, is envisioned as a pioneering ecosystem for quantum computing research and collaboration. The facility is envisioned as a collaborative ecosystem where institutions and companies can access and share advanced quantum computing resources. It will also include a dedicated on-site data centre to support high-performance computing needs. IBM and TCS will jointly finalise the infrastructure specifications, with the initial setup set to host the IBM Quantum System Two.

Besides the AI university, the two parties will partner to train over 10,000 students in the technology and support the growth of 500 AI startups based in the state. The US-based chipmaker will also provide curriculum guidance and technical training resources to support AI education and capacity building in engineering colleges across the state. Further, Nvidia will also assist the government in setting up new 'AI factories' in the state by providing insights from its global operations. These AI factories will likely focus on innovation and talent development. "A key agreement has been signed with world-renowned Artificial Intelligence (AI) computing company NVIDIA to support the establishment of an AI University, including skill training for youth in Artificial Intelligence," Andhra's human resource development minister Nara Lokesh said in a post on X. With this, Andhra Pradesh has become the latest Indian state to take steps towards training local youth in the emerging tech. Last month, the Uttar Pradesh government inaugurated a skill initiative, AI Pragya, to train 10 Lakh citizens in advanced digital technologies, including AI, machine learning, data analytics, and cybersecurity. During its budget session for FY26, the Haryana government announced the establishment of an AI Mission, which proposed the setting up of AI hubs to train over 50,000 youth in the state in cutting-edge technologies. At the national level, the central government has introduced several flagship initiatives like PM Kaushal Vikas Yojana, National Programme on AI, and FutureSkills PRIME to promote AI and digital skills. Earlier, the Centre earmarked INR 1,000 Cr for digital skilling and future technologies, including AI, under the Digital India scheme. Also, INR 2,000 Cr under the IndiaAI Mission has been earmarked for AI research, skilling, and startups. The development comes close on the heels of ChatGPT maker OpenAI announcing a partnership with IndiaAI Mission to set up an educational platform "OpenAI Academy" in the country.
