To test this, I asked Gemini to generate a quick grocery list for easy meals. It did so easily enough, but I then asked to have the list saved as a PDF. After a few seconds, a fully formatted PDF (with a little flourish, even) was generated, which I could send to my email for easy access. Google says that for most formats, you'll be able to download the file directly from the chat, but in some instances, you'll need to export them to Google Drive, which is just a click away. Nearly the entire scientific community relies on LaTeX, and Google's decision to support the protocol is notable given OpenAI recently released Prism, an entire app dedicated to formatting LaTeX journals. Judging from the GIF Google shared alongside today's announcement, Gemini understands how to use the system to generate diagrams, which should be particularly useful for students studying STEM subjects.
