Reliance's 'jewel' Jamnagar won't only be about wedding gala or refinery as Akash Ambani announces new plan
Akash Ambani of Reliance Industries Limited announced the establishment of advanced AI infrastructure in Jamnagar within 24 months, aiming to position the city as a global AI leader. This initiative commemorates 25 years of the Jamnagar refinery, turning Jamnagar into an industrial and technological hub.Akash Ambani, Director of Reliance Industries Limited, announced plans on Thursday to establish advanced AI infrastructure in Jamnagar, a city renowned as the "Jewel of the Reliance family." He pledged to complete the ambitious project within 24 months. Joined by Isha Ambani and Anant Ambani, Akash emphasized their collective vision for Reliance's growth. Speaking at an event commemorating 25 years of the Jamnagar Refinery, Akash said, "AI infrastructure that we have commenced working in Jamnagar will not only make Jamnagar a leader in AI infrastructure, but will also place it amongst the top rank in the world." He further added, "We have already commenced building this in Jamnagar and we want to complete it true Jamnagar style in record time as we have always done in Jamnagar in 24 months." Reaffirming his commitment to Reliance and its legacy, Akash said, "Isha, Anant and myself, we commit to you we will grow Reliance together and make sure Jamnagar will always be jewel of our Reliance family. This is our commitment to the entire Reliance family, including my parents." Akash expressed confidence in Jamnagar's future, stating that Reliance aims to position the city as a global leader in the new era of information and technology. Reliance's Jamnagar refinery, the conglomerate's first, recently celebrated its 25th anniversary. Established on December 28, 1999, the refinery has grown into the world's largest refining hub -- an engineering marvel that embodies India's industrial pride. Initially, the project faced skepticism from global experts who doubted the feasibility of building a refinery of such scale in a remote, arid region without basic infrastructure like roads, electricity, or drinking water. Despite these challenges, Reliance founder Dhirubhai Ambani defied critics and transformed Jamnagar into a world-class industrial and technological hub. Under Dhirubhai's leadership, the refinery was constructed in just 33 months, overcoming obstacles such as severe cyclones and logistical challenges. His vision turned a desert-like landscape into a "Nandanwan," a vibrant industrial oasis. Today, the Jamnagar refinery complex houses some of the world's largest units, including the Fluidised Catalytic Cracker (FCC), Coker, Alkylation, Paraxylene, Polypropylene, Refinery Off-Gas Cracker (ROGC), and Petcoke gasification plants. This legacy of innovation and determination continues to guide Reliance as it embarks on its next transformative journey in Jamnagar, shaping the future with cutting-edge AI infrastructure.
