Don't Know What to Watch? Samsung TVs Add AI Assistant Copilot to Help
"What's a great rom-com to watch on a rainy day?" Don't strain yourself thinking, just ask your TV screen. Microsoft's AI assistant Copilot is now available on certain Samsung TVs and monitors, helping viewers select which shows or movies to watch, where to catch up on past episodes and even how to learn more about the actors. Copilot will be integrated into the 2025 Samsung lineup in the US and select other markets, with expansion to more models and regions to come. "Copilot on Samsung TVs and monitors brings AI out of your pocket and into the heart of your home," David Washington, Partner General Manager, Microsoft AI, said in a press release. "It's there when you and your family want to discover something to watch together, get answers to your questions, plan your weekend, or simply hang out." Here's how it works. Find Copilot in the Samsung Daily+ apps menu and click on it. Then press the mic button on your Samsung remote control and ask a question such as, "What are the most popular horror movies? Is there a Taylor Swift documentary yet? What's the latest Marvel movie?" The Copilot avatar, an anthropomorphic beige blob, will tell you its answer and show you an image to go with it. You can also ask non-TV-related questions, such as, 'What's the weather going to be this weekend? Who are the (insert favorite team) playing tonight? When does Daylight Saving Time start?' CNET TV expert Ty Pendlebury is taking a wait-and-see approach about the feature. "Both LG and Samsung announced support for Microsoft Copilot at CES, but whether people actually find having the AI on their TV useful is the big question," Pendlebury said. For now, Copilot will be integrated onto these 2025 Samsung TVs and monitors in the US and other select markets, at no cost:

Microsoft's Copilot AI is now inside Samsung TVs and monitors
Microsoft's Copilot AI assistant is officially coming to TVs, starting with Samsung's 2025 lineup of TVs and smart monitors. With the integration, you can call upon Copilot and ask for movie suggestions, spoiler-free episode recaps, and other general questions. On TV, Copilot takes on a "friendly, animated presence" that resembles the opalescent Copilot Appearance Microsoft showed off last month, though in a color that makes it look more like a personified chickpea. The beige blob will float and bounce around your screen, while its mouth moves in line with its responses. Copilot will automatically appear on supported Samsung TVs, where you'll find it within the Samsung Tizen OS homescreen, Samsung Daily Plus, and Click to Search. You can access Copilot by using a voice command or selecting it with your remote. From there, hit the mic button on your remote, and you can start speaking to Copilot. Microsoft notes that you can sign into the app for a more "personal" Copilot experience that allows the AI assistant to reference your previous conversations and preferences. Copilot is rolling out now on Samsung's 2025 TVs, including Micro RGB, Neo QLED, OLED, The Frame Pro, and The Frame models, as well as the M7, M8, and M9 smart monitors. Microsoft has previously announced plans to bring Copilot to LG TVs as well.

You Can Now Talk to Copilot on Samsung TVs and Monitors
Don't miss out on our latest stories. Add PCMag as a preferred source on Google. It's hard to escape AI these days, even when you're sitting down to watch TV. At CES this year, LG and Samsung announced plans to bring Microsoft's Copilot to their TVs, and Samsung this week announced a new integration of Copilot with Samsung's 2025 lineup of AI-powered TVs and smart monitors. The integration will help you talk to Copilot (yes, with your voice) to find what you're looking for and discover new stuff, Microsoft says. Copilot will be added to eligible screens automatically. Access it by clicking a blob on the home screen, pressing the mic button on your remote, or through the Samsung Daily+ app. You can also scan a QR code to connect your Microsoft account and receive personalized responses. On Samsung screens, you can ask Copilot to provide spoiler-free recaps of shows, recommendations from a particular genre or based on what you've already liked, or even suggestions that suit people with varied interests. While responding, the sand-colored Copilot blob will react and move to match the tone of the conversation. "It's a visible reminder that your companion is listening, thinking, and responding just for you," Microsoft says. Once you have finished watching, you can also ask Copilot questions like "Who was the voice actor for that character?" or "What else has the director done?" You can also tap the AI assistant for everyday-help queries like weather reports or something more personal. All of these are use-case examples provided by Microsoft. We may be able to find more of them when we test the feature. It is currently available for free on 2025 TV models like Micro RGB, Neo QLED, OLED, The Frame Pro, and The Frame, and smart monitors like M7, M8, and M9. At CES 2025, Samsung also unveiled its own suite of AI features for TV, called Samsung Vision AI, which rebrands some of Samsung's Galaxy AI tools for bigger screens.

Microsoft Copilot is now a talking blob on Samsung TVs
Copilot, Microsoft's AI assistant that's integrated into Windows and Microsoft 365, is making the jump to your living room. The company that select Samsung TVs will now be able to access Copilot to ask questions and receive recommendations via voice chat, with the AI assistant represented on your screen as a talking blob. Based on Microsoft's examples, Copilot can recap shows, offer movie suggestions and answer general knowledge questions. It can also go beyond voiced responses (which are apparently synced to the blob's animated mouth movements) and include visual aids, like a card with a movie summary and a Rotten Tomatoes score. You don't need to have a Microsoft account to use Copilot on your TV, but Microsoft says it offers additional personalizations and the ability for the AI to reference past chats if you do. Copilot's blob-ified appearance is part of a bigger redesign that made the chatbot interface more personalized and user-friendly. Besides being a productivity tool, Microsoft is interested in positioning Copilot as a "companion" with a visual representation that you can customize. The larger customization part isn't available yet, but putting Copilot in a casual setting like your living room fits with that overall goal. Copilot integration was also announced as being a part of . On new , Copilot joins a collection of Samsung-developed AI features for automatically translating subtitles and identifying on-screen people and products. Copilot is available in select markets on the 2025 versions of Samsung's "Micro RGB, Neo QLED, OLED, The Frame Pro, The Frame, as well as the M7, M8 and M9 Smart Monitors," Microsoft says. You can launch Copilot by clicking on its icon in the Apps Tab or using a voice command. Once the app is loaded, you can talk to the assistant by pressing the mic button on your Samsung remote.

Samsung and Microsoft are bringing Copilot to your living room
You have a short window to claim your free $50 credit ahead of Samsung's next Galaxy event To kick off 2025, South Korean tech giant Samsung, at CES, announced big changes coming to its big-screen portfolio. As part of the announcement, Samsung alluded to Microsoft's Copilot AI making its way to its smart TVs and smart monitors -- a development that's actually materializing now! The two companies just announced that they're ready to integrate the AI assistant directly into Samsung's 2025 big-screen lineup, building on the South Korean tech giant's existing Samsung Vision AI. As alluded by Microsoft, the AI assistant will not just help Samsung smart TV and monitor users discover content to watch, it will also give users answers to their questions, plan weekends for them, give them series/movie recaps, and a lot more, right from the big screen. That's essentially a little taste of Copilot's functionality, but optimized for the big screen. Microsoft and Samsung have a long history of bringing the best of technology together, from Windows and Office on Galaxy devices to Xbox Cloud Gaming on Samsung TVs. This collaboration brings that same spirit of innovation to Copilot, making your TV smarter, more personal, and more fun. You don't necessarily need a Microsoft account Initial availability is limited to 2025 Samsung TV models including Micro RGB, Neo QLED, OLED, The Frame Pro, The Frame, as well as the M7, M8 and M9 Smart Monitors, with availability expected to expand to more models over time. If available to you, Copilot will appear on the Samsung Tizen OS homescreen, Samsung Daily+, and Click to Search. Once activated and triggered via the mic icon on your remote, you'll see Copilot's blob-like "friendly, animated presence" on your screen. It reacts as you speak, and lip-syncs when it is giving you a reply, complete with expressions that match the tone of the conversation. It's a subtle touch that serves as a "visible reminder that your companion is listening, thinking, and responding just for you." Although you don't need a Microsoft account to access Copilot on said TVs and monitors, having one can unlock additional features like Copilot's personalization, memory, and preferences for you. Without an account, you'll still be able to enjoy these features: Custom, spoiler-free recaps: "I want to get back into The Crown, I left off at Season 3, Episode 4. What happened up until then?" Ultra-specific recommendations: "Like The Queen's Gambit, but about cooking instead of chess, and under two hours." Group-friendly picks: "Hannah likes rom-coms, David likes sci-fi, Mark likes thrillers. What's something we'll all like?" Perfect for when everyone's gathered in the living room and you want to decide together. Post-watch deep dives: "Who was the voice actor for that character?" or "What else has the director done?" Everyday help: "Will Saturday in Seattle be good conditions for hiking?" or "Cheer me up after a breakup."

Samsung makes good on promise to bring Microsoft Copilot to TVs
Microsoft Copilot has a new home in Samsung's TVs and monitors after the company announced a partnership earlier in the year. Samsung announced the official rollout of Microsoft Copilot on its 2025 TVs and smart monitors as a part of the Samsung Vision AI experience. Samsung says that Copilot will be accessible through voice commands or the remote. The AI assistant will be positioned as a tool to find content on Samsung's TVs that's "tailored" towards the user. The company also noted that it will leverage conversational AI in the lifestyle hub, which expands beyond entertainment and into wellness, food, and more. Microsoft's AI model is generally seen as a capable option, and it will be interesting to see how well it incorporates into Samsung's displays. The predictable part of Samsung's move to Copilot on TVs was in the way Google Assistant has been phased out. The digital assistant has been pushed into the background over the last year as Google itself continues to push towards utilizing Google Gemini instead. The long-standing digital assistant is even leaving devices that were built around it, such as the company's Nest displays. Samsung announced this move to Microsoft's AI in early 2025. This comes as LG is also in the process of bringing Microsofts conversational AI to TVs. It would make sense that Gemini doesn't have a future on Samsung's Tizen displays, as it would be a fish out of water on a device running anything other than Google TV. Copilot, on the other hand, likely wouldn't. Samsung is committed to building a TV OS that offers its own proprietary features, and it certainly doesn't seem to be hurting them. Samsung notes availability will vary by region, and no specific rollout dates are listed. Let us know if you get access to Copilot on your Samsung TV in the comments.

Copilot's move into your TV begins today with Samsung. LG is next
If you've been exhausted by the unstoppable deployment of AI chatbots like Microsoft Copilot across your entire PC, be warned: don't turn on your TV. Samsung said Thursday that it has begun rolling out Copilot to its 2025 lineup of AI-powered TVs, meaning your living room won't be the escape from AI you might have been hoping for. Samsung's smart monitors, including the Samsung Smart Monitor M9 (review) -- which likewise runs on Samsung's Tizen operating system -- will be getting Copilot, too. Samsung originally announced a partnership with Microsoft at CES in January, saying that Copilot will be used for a "wide range of Copilot services, including personalized content recommendations." "Copilot is available on 2025 TV models including, Micro RGB, Neo QLED, OLED, The Frame Pro, The Frame, as well as the M7, M8, and M9 Smart Monitors," Samsung said. "Availability will expand to additional regions and models over time and may vary by market." Samsung says that this will be part of what Samsung calls its Vision AI, which includes Samsung's own technology as well as Google's. "With Copilot built into the display, users can access Microsoft's powerful AI companion through a simple voice command or click of the remote, making it easier to search, learn and engage with content directly from their screens," Samsung says. What Samsung isn't doing, however, is building in Google Gemini into its own TVs. Instead, it's turning to Copilot as the conversational AI built into the TV. Samsung already has its own Bixby voice assistant -- which presumably is either being downplayed or is being used to adjust settings and other functions -- as well as a Click to Search feature. Copilot will perform the heavy lifting. (Google Gemini is being added to Samsung's Ballie home robot, however.) "Whether viewers are curious about something they're watching or looking to explore a topic further, Copilot can respond instantly to share quick facts about actors or athletes, summarize plots, support foreign language learning or help break down complex concepts -- all from the largest screen in the user's home," Samsung says. Copilot is designed to feel "like an AI companion in your living room," added David Washington, Microsoft's partner general manager of AI, in Samsung's statement. Let's say you're disgusted by all of this omnipresent AI and want to ditch Samsung, too. So what you do then? Don't buy an LG TV. In January, LG said it also plans to integrate Copilot to certain models of its 2025 OLED evo TVs -- again not saying which ones. (Presumably, both the Samsung and LG TVs will carry prominent Copilot labeling.) Samsung has been the top-selling TV manufacturer for 19 years, incidentally. Your safest bet? Find a wealthy neighborhood nearby, and pick up a used smart (or dumb) TV from a family who has to have the latest thing. Otherwise, our collective future means working with Copilot all day, settling down on the couch, and then having Copilot chirp, "Hey there -- what's going on?" as the TV powers on. There will be no escape.

Microsoft Copilot Will Act as an AI Clippy for Your Next Samsung TV
Microsoft's Copilot AI assistant is coming to a Samsung TV or monitor near you, beginning with the 2025 lineup. The voice-powered AI can be used to for movie and show suggestions, episode recaps and or general questions like, "Will Saturday in Seattle be good conditions for hiking?" According to a Microsoft announcement post, you can find Copilot on support Samsung TVs in the Tizen OS homescreen. It'll also be available in Samsung Daily Plus and Click to Search. "It's there when you and your family want to discover something to watch together, get answers to your questions, plan your weekend, or simply hang out," said David Washington, Microsoft AI's partner general manager. On your Samsung TV, Copilot is a "friendly, animated presence" that looks like an orange-ish amorphous Clippy. The creamsicle blob will bounce around your display while it answers queries. Copilot can be accessed with your remote or using voice commands. From there you can hit the microphone button and start speaking to the AI assistant. Microsoft adds that you can sign into the Copilot app to make the AI assistant more personalized, as it will remember previous conversations and preferences. According to Samsung, the Copilot integration is available on the company's 2025 lineup including Micro RGB, Neo QLED, OLED, The Frame Pro, The Frame. Additionally, Copilot can be accessed on the M7, M8 and M9 Smart Monitors. Microsoft and LG previously announced that LG TVs would also be adding Copilot to its 2025 lineup. It's not clear when that collaboration will release.

Microsoft Copilot is coming to Samsung TVs and monitors
Microsoft says Copilot on Samsung TVs can give you spoiler-free recaps and more. Credit: Microsoft Microsoft teamed up with Samsung to bring Copilot to select TVs and monitors for discovering what to watch and more. Copilot is now available as a voice assistant app on Samsung's 2025 lineup of TVs and monitors. For TVs that includes Micro RGB, Neo QLED, OLED, The Frame Pro and for monitors, the M7, M8, and M9 models. When you click on the Copilot app, you'll see an animated blob that you can talk to when you activate the microphone on your Samsung remote. Microsoft lists a few different examples of how you can use Copilot for finding shows and movies to watch, with visuals of title cards and details. You can get hyper-specific, like asking Copilot to find cooking shows under two hours, spoiler-free recaps of what you've watched up to the latest episode, or challenge Copilot to find something that all the viewers can agree on. For instance, maybe your group wants to watch something like a rom-com with sci-fi and thriller elements. You could ask Copilot to recommend some options that check all those boxes. (perhaps Her or Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind?) Microsoft says you can also ask Copilot for IMDB-esque deep-dives on actors or directors or just ask Copilot general questions like the weather forecast or... to cheer you up after a breakup. Although, if you're asking your TV for emotional support, it might be time to touch grass or check in with a human friend. Emotional attachment aside, injecting AI in TVs is a natural fit in many ways. Generative AI has proven to be a useful tool for sourcing information. Google has also been working on integrating AI into various hardware beyond phones and computers. Earlier this year, they announced Gemini for Google TV and Android Auto for cars.

Samsung is bringing Microsoft's Copilot AI to its newest TVs - at least it's better than Bixby
Samsung is bringing Microsoft Copilot to its TVs and monitors this year "for smarter on-screen experiences". The news comes via Samsung's Dutch website and Microsoft's Generative AI blog, which says that the combination of Copilot and Bixby "creates a richer, more contextual smart display experience." According to Samsung, the new Copilot integration will be accessible through the Tizen OS Home and Samsung Daily+. Copilot will provide "personalized recommendations, relevant information, and interactive learning experiences." Copilot will respond to questions "instantly to share quick facts about actors or athletes, summarize plots, support foreign language learning, or help break down complex concepts - all from the biggest screen in the home." While Samsung's press release is pretty light on detail, Microsoft gives five specific scenarios for Copilot on TV. They are: The Microsoft blog also shows a video of Copilot in action, its weird blobby face pulsing on the screen with its lips synched to its speech. Copilot will be coming to some of the best Samsung TVs and monitors in "select markets", and we've put a call in to Samsung to find out which ones. Microsoft says Copilot will be coming to 2025 models including "Micro RGB, Neo QLED, OLED, The Frame Pro, The Frame, as well as the M7, M8, and M9 Smart Monitors." That list includes some of the best TVs of this year - though there's no word yet on whether this will come to older TVs as part of Samsung's commitment to seven years of software updates for its TVs.
