You can now add ChatGPT to PowerPoint - Engadget
OpenAI is now letting you give your presentations the AI treatment. The company announced that ChatGPT is available in Microsoft PowerPoint. The chatbot can create new presentation slides, as well as editing and updating existing ones. As with many of ChatGPT's capabilities, it takes action based on natural language prompts or by pulling material from connected services like Gmail, Outlook or Sharepoint. The PowerPoint feature is in beta, but most OpenAI users can get to work with it now, including those on the free access tier and subscribers through the corporate-focused ChatGPT Business. This is a feature rival Anthropic has offered with its Claude chatbot since September. (Google's Gemini, of course, integrates nicely with the company's Slides platform.) With OpenAI potentially gearing up for what's sure to be an obscenely valued IPO, it makes sense that the company is mirroring as many of its competitors' capabilities as possible. PowerPoint was a bit of an outlier, since ChatGPT is already up and rolling in several other enterprise tools such as Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets.

By completing this form, you agree to receive marketing communications from PYMNTS and to the sharing of your information with our sponsor, if applicable, in accordance with our Privacy Policy and Terms and Conditions. This new feature, currently in beta, allows users to generate full presentations from scratch by providing simple conversational prompts or raw materials such as notes, spreadsheets and images, according to a Friday (May 22) report in Quartz. Beyond initial creation, the tool functions as an advanced editor capable of modifying or inserting slides without requiring a total restart, the report says. Its capabilities extend to advanced reasoning, where the assistant can analyze a finished deck to identify narrative weak points and predict objections that clients or audience members might raise. To streamline workflows, ChatGPT integrates with services like Gmail, Outlook, and SharePoint, per the report, allowing it to pull information directly from a user's connected accounts rather than requiring manual data transfers. The rollout is notably inclusive, reaching the broad majority of OpenAI's user base, from those on free accounts to organizations on the corporate ChatGPT Business plan. This move allows OpenAI to close a competitive gap with Anthropic's Claude and Google's Gemini, both of which already offer comparable slide-building functionality. This integration arrives amid a shifting relationship between the tech giants. A restructured partnership means Microsoft no longer holds exclusive rights to OpenAI's models, though it retains a non-exclusive license through 2032. While ChatGPT was already present in Excel and Sheets, the report notes that PowerPoint had been a holdout until now. The push into PowerPoint comes as OpenAI prepares for a potential initial public offering (IPO), aiming for a public debut this September. While the company generated nearly $6 billion in revenue during the first quarter -- driven largely by its Codex coding agent and business sales -- it continues to operate "deeply in the red" with a projected $14 billion annual loss. Financial disclosures reveal that OpenAI lost $1.22 for every dollar of revenue in the first quarter, resulting in an adjusted operating income margin of negative 122%. Consequently, the company is pivoting away from side projects to focus more heavily on coding and business users to maintain its lead over rivals like Anthropic and Google as the market moves toward intense scrutiny of AI business models.

ChatGPT can now make your presentation using text prompts: Here is how
OpenAI has introduced a new feature that lets users create and edit PowerPoint presentations using ChatGPT. The feature, called ChatGPT for PowerPoint, is currently available in beta and allows users to build presentation slides with simple text prompts. With this integration, users no longer need to manually create every slide from scratch. Instead, they can ask ChatGPT to turn notes, documents, spreadsheets or images into a proper presentation deck. The AI can also rewrite content, shorten long paragraphs, improve slide structure and make presentations look more professional while keeping them editable inside PowerPoint. The new feature is available globally for ChatGPT Business, Enterprise, Edu, Teachers, and K-12 users. OpenAI is also rolling it out for Free, Go, Plus and Pro users. Also read: ChatGPT solves 80 year old math problem that puzzled researchers for years One of the key highlights is that ChatGPT works directly inside Microsoft PowerPoint and understands the structure of the presentation. The AI can also help identify weak parts of a presentation by suggesting what information may be missing or what questions an audience might ask during a meeting. For example, users can type prompts like: Note that there are some limitations. OpenAI explains, 'Some advanced PowerPoint capabilities may not be supported yet, including complex formatting like template or font handling. ChatGPT can make mistakes and may change or delete content if a request is unclear, so be specific, review what changed, and keep a copy of important decks.'
