GMKtec EVO-X3 mini PC is coming with OCuLink support and a Ryzen AI MAX+ PRO 495 variant packing 192GB of memory
GMKtec has revealed the EVO-X3, the follow-up to its well-received EVO-X2 Mini PC, and the company has also confirmed that a more powerful variant with AMD's upcoming Ryzen AI MAX+ PRO 495 processor is coming later this year. The EVO-X3 launches with the same AMD Ryzen AI MAX+ 395 chip as the EVO-X2, targeting users with similar performance needs. GMKtec is already preparing a more advanced variant featuring the Ryzen AI MAX+ PRO 495 version, which includes 192GB of LPDDR5X memory. That expanded memory pool would enable up to 160GB of configurable VRAM, allowing it to run significantly larger AI models locally. Beyond the chip, the EVO-X3's most important IO upgrade over its predecessor is a native OCuLink port for external graphics card support. This port provides far greater bandwidth than the USB4 ports on the previous model. The rest of the connectivity package includes Wi-Fi 7, USB 4, dual PCIe 4.0 storage drive bays, and ROCm software support. The EVO-X3 is also physically larger than the EVO-X2, taller but slimmer, with the additional height allowing for larger fans and better exhaust to improve thermal headroom. AMD confirmed the Ryzen AI MAX PRO 400 series in May, with systems from HP and Lenovo expected in Q3 2026. The chip remains on Zen 5 CPU cores and RDNA 3.5 graphics, making it a clock-bumped refresh of the current Strix Halo platform, rather than a new architecture. The main upgrades over the 395 include higher GPU clocks at 3.0GHz versus 2.9GHz, Radeon 8065S graphics, and expanded 192GB memory support. Pricing has not been confirmed for either variant. The base EVO-X3 with the Ryzen AI MAX+ 395 is expected soon, while the 495 variant will follow later in 2026.

GMKtec Crams OCuLink, Wi-Fi 7 and Dual PCIe 4.0 Into the EVO-X3, With a 192GB Ryzen AI MAX+ 495 Monster Following Later This Year
GMKtec gave us a first look at their upcoming EVO-X3 Mini PC, the follow-up to its X2, with the same AMD Ryzen AI MAX+ 395 chip. AMD Ryzen AI MAX+ 395 Powers The Upgraded GMKtec EVO-X3, & Will Get The Ryzen AI MAX+ 495 Later This Year Last year, we tested the newly launched GMKtec EVO-X2 Mini PC. The system features the AMD Ryzen AI MAX+ 395, and is a strong competitor to the NVIDIA DGX Spark, featuring a much lower price point. The company is now launching a follow-up to this PC, the EVO-X3. The GMKtec EVO-X3 is going to be even better, with the same Ryzen AI MAX chip and upgraded IO. The first and most important upgrade is the OCuLink port, which will allow users to run a discrete graphics card externally. This will enable much faster eGPU support than the previous USB4 ports. Besides that, the system will come with Wi-Fi 7 support, USB4 ports, dual PCIe 4.0 drive bays for storage, and a much larger footprint than the X3. EVO-X3 is much taller than the EVO-X2, but also slimmer at the same time. The taller height allows the company to cram even more thermal headroom with larger fans and exhaust vents. The system will be launching with 128 GB as standard, but we were told that the company is also working on a Ryzen AI MAX+ 495 variant, which will pack 192 GB of LPDDR5X memory. This will enable support for larger AI models and unified memory support for the GPU up to 160 GB. The reference configuration will come with 2 TB of storage capacity. Currently, there's no word on pricing, but the Ryzen AI MAX+ 495 should retail at a higher price than the 395 variant due to its larger 192 GB memory and the new chip. Availability of the EVO-X3 is expected to be real soon, while the 495 variant will be coming later this year. Follow Wccftech on Google to get more of our news coverage in your feeds.
