Google leaked its next Pixel Drop with Screen Reactions and paid features
Google is also teasing AI music generation, allowing users to turn simple prompts into songs or audio clips. Google appears ready to deliver its next Pixel update, and a few early ads may have given away what owners can expect before the company makes anything official. The next Pixel Drop seems to be bringing a slew of AI-powered additions, including a new Screen Reactions tool and more Gemini Omni capabilities. The clues came in the form of promotional videos spotted by Droid-Life on Amazon, giving us an early look at what Google has in store for Pixel devices. Pixel Drops are Google's quarterly software updates that introduce new features outside of major Android releases. The last one came in March, so the company is a little behind schedule on its next batch of additions. The Screen Reactions are easily the biggest actual change here. If you have been tracking the betas, you know Google first teased this at The Android Show in May before dropping it into last week's Android 17 QPR1 Beta 4. Beta testers have already been testing it on devices like the Pixel 10 Pro, and most of us naturally assumed the stable public release wouldn't be until September. But the leaked promo indicates this Pixel-exclusive trick is coming much sooner. The other teased addition is the Gemini Omni. The AI system, introduced at Google I/O 2026, focuses heavily on multimodal creation. The promotional material says users will be able to combine different kinds of media to create videos right on Pixel devices. Google also appears to be pushing for AI-generated music tools too. One of the videos has the tagline "Turn Your Ideas into Music," suggesting that Pixel users might soon be able to make songs or audio clips using simple prompts. The AI stuff, however, is where things get intriguing. The ads heavily push Gemini Omni capabilities -- specifically, generating a country song to yell at your roommate for stealing your ice cream and mashing up different media types to create a video. Do note that you can already do this on a Pixel phone if you pay for the premium Google One tier. It's weird to see Google release benefits of a paid Gemini subscription as a general update for phones. The question is, is Google bringing these tools to the free tier for Pixel owners, or is it just using the Pixel Drop to promote a paid service? We don't have a specific release date yet, but given that the June update is already late, expect this software to reach your device in the coming days.

Google's June Pixel Drop expands AirDrop compatibility, creation tools, and Pixel Watch safety
Chandra Steele has been writing about tech for the entirety of her journalism career. She loves making tough topics easy to understand. Before joining Android Police, Chandra was senior features writer at PCMag where she did everything from interviewing Jeff Goldblum to explaining crypto. It's a big news day for Google, with the launch of Android 17 and Wear OS 7, but that's not the end of its announcements. There's also a June Pixel Drop that adds some long-awaited features across its Pixel hardware lineup, as well as two additions to Gemini. The upgrades are aimed at bridging an ecosystem gap with Apple, expanding AI creation on mobile, and adding a critical safety enhancement to the Pixel Watch. Google said they will begin rolling out this month. Pixel phones get more connected Quick Share had a real glow-up when it got AirDrop compatibility at the end of last year. The problem for Pixel has been its limited availability, with only the Pixel 9 series (except for the 9a) and 10 series getting the feature. That changes now, with the Pixel 9a and 8a Quick Share compatibility with AirDrop for seamless two-way file sharing. In another win for the lower-priced a-series Pixels, the Pixel 10a gets Google's AudioLM-powered speech-to-speech translation. The ability to have near-instantaneous, natural-sounding voice translation is a huge win for travelers and those who want to carry on multilingual conversations but haven't had the chance to take all of the language classes they want to. Creators won't miss a step Screen reactions are all over social media and now they're even easier to create on all Pixel phones with Android 17. Selfie videos are now built right in screen recordings, so that no additional app is needed to create a green screen. The feature is available across regions and languages. Bubbling up A new bubbles feature lets users float apps like browsers, calendars, and Gemini over the main screen, maximizing multitasking. The feature is available on all Pixel devices running Android 17. Pixel Fold users get an exclusively bubbly update with a bubble bar. It's a dedicated space to organize, move, and access recent bubbles. Safety that speaks to loved ones Anyone who bought the Pixel Watch for peace of mind knows that the Emergency Sharing feature automatically contacts emergency services when it detects a car crash, fall, or a loss of pulse. Now they can breathe even easier knowing that their selected emergency contacts will also receive an alert for the same critical situations. AI creation on the go Gemini Pro users are getting a new tool to take with them: Gemini Omni. It's a video editing tool that lets users create and edit videos using conversational prompts and a combination of text, photos, and video clips. And anyone with the Gemini app will now be able to use Google's Lyria 3 music generator right in it. Lyria 3 lets users create music tracks with text prompts and images.

Google's June 2026 Pixel Drop arrives with floating app bubbles, screen reactions and many new AI tools
Google has started rolling out Android 17 to eligible Pixel phones, which brings a refreshed design and a variety of new features and improvements. At the same time, the company is releasing its June Pixel Drop update, which introduces new multitasking tools, AI-powered creative features, improved calling experiences, and additional safety features for Pixel Watch users. Bubbles bring a new way to multitask The biggest addition in this Pixel Drop is Bubbles, a new multitasking feature that lets users keep supported apps floating over other apps on screen. Apps such as Gemini, browsers, and calendars can remain accessible in small movable windows, making it easier to switch between tasks without constantly jumping between apps. Pixel Fold devices are also getting a dedicated Bubble Bar, which provides a central place to organize and manage active bubbles. Google says the feature is designed to make multitasking more convenient on larger foldable displays. Screen recordings get built-in reaction videos Google is also adding Screen Reactions, a feature that places a selfie video overlay directly into screen recordings. This allows users to create reaction videos, tutorials, or gameplay commentary without needing separate recording or editing software. Gemini can now create videos and music Gemini Omni has also arrived on Pixel devices with this update. It is an AI-powered video generation tool that can create custom videos from text prompts. Users describe what they want to see, and Gemini generates a video based on that description. It is worth noting that this feature is only accessible on the Gemini app if you have a Gemini Pro subscription. Google is also rolling out Lyria 3, which can generate original music tracks from text prompts or images. Factors such as style, vocals, and tempo can be adjusted to create personalized songs. Several existing Pixel features are expanding Google is bringing several previously announced features to additional devices and regions. Voice Translate is expanding to the Pixel 10a, while Manual Call Screen is launching in India, allowing users to have Google answer unknown callers and display the reason for the call before answering. The company is also expanding conversational photo editing in Google Photos to Germany, the UK, France, Spain, and Italy. Meanwhile, Magic Cue is coming to more messaging apps, and Take a Message is getting custom greetings and wider availability. Pixel Watch gets upgraded emergency features Pixel Watch users are receiving a new Emergency Sharing integration that works with Fall Detection, Car Crash Detection, and Loss of Pulse Detection. If a serious event is detected, the watch can contact emergency services and notify selected emergency contacts automatically, similar to the Crash Detection feature available on newer Apple Watches. Recommended Videos Some of the June Pixel Drop features are limited to certain devices and regions, but Pixel phones from the Pixel 6 series onward that are eligible for Android 17 will get Screen Reactions, the new Bubbles multitasking feature, and AI music creation through Lyria 3.

June Pixel Drop Just Arrived on Pixel Devices With New Features
You already know the big news of the day - Google is rolling out stable Android 17 to Pixel phones. What if there was more, though? Google is giving Pixel owners more by also turning this into a Pixel Feature Drop or "Pixel Drop" month. The June Pixel Drop is bringing several new features to Pixel devices, as well as expansions of several others to more devices. We discovered a slip-up by Google over the weekend that teased some of these features early. If you read DL, you were in the know days ago. Let's breakdown all that is new in the June Pixel Drop release. Again, the big news here is that Android 17 is rolling out to Pixel phones. As long as you aren't a part of the newer Android 17 beta programs, it'll show up on your Pixel phone starting today if you own a Pixel 6 up through the newest Pixel 10 series phones. If you are looking for new features, Google is mostly just expanding new Android 17 features into the Pixel Drop for this month, so if you read our big Android 17 write-up, not a lot of this will sound new. 1. Gemini Omni: I'm still slightly confused by this release, but Google is suggesting that Gemini Omni is now here for Pixel phones within the Gemini app. This was announced at Google I/O last month and began rolling out to the Gemini app for paid tiers of Google AI plans. What is Gemini Omni? This is Google's advanced video creator that lets you imagine almost anything and then turn it into a video. You can fine-tune the characters, lighting, scenery, camera angles, and more. 2. Lyria 3 music generation: Like Omni, Lyria 3 isn't exactly new and this being a part of the Pixel Drop is sort of confusing. Google says that you can use Lyria 3 in Gemini to create music of any style and it is available on "all Android 17 Pixel phones and folds in all regions and languages." 3. Screen Reactions: Yep, Google is including screen reactions as a part of the June Drop. We've talked about these a lot. 4. Bubbles: Yep, they are also including Bubbles as a feature. You can read about these here. The rest of the June Pixel Drop is an expansion of features to more devices. Here's the breakdown: * Magic Cue expands to more messaging apps: Magic Cue, which is still exclusive to the Pixel 10 series, is adding support through Snapchat, Telegram, and Instagram Messenger within the next few weeks. * Quick Share Expansion: Airdrop on Android via Quick Share is expanding to the Pixel 9a and Pixel 8a. * Edit Photos: The AI-powered voice control over photo editing in Google Photos is expanding to Germany, the UK, France, Spain, and Italy. * Voice Translate: Voice translation during calls, where your phone can translate what each caller says in their own voice, is expanding to the Pixel 10a. This was previously a Pixel 10 series exclusive. * Manual Call Screen: Call Screen can now answer unknown calls for you, ask who is calling and why, and then let you decide to pick up or not. This is expanding to the Pixel series and newer. * Take a Message & Custom Greetings: The "Take a Message" feature that allows you to better manage missed or declined calls is expanding to new markets. This also means that Custom Greetings are available to more markets. Google typically holds back some info on Pixel Drop days until they go live. Because of that, you'll want to head back here shortly as we provide updates.

Screen Reactions and floating app Bubbles make Android 17 worth upgrading to
Outside of the office, Josh can be found digging into the latest video games, fantasy books, or tinkering with the newest features in Windows. * Android 17 hits Pixels with the release of the June Pixel Drop, rolling out today to supported phones and tablets. * Screen Reactions make it easier to record reactions, while Bubbles allows for faster, smoother multitasking. * Gemini Omni and Lyria 3 enable on-device AI videos and music and Wear OS 7 adds Live Updates and battery gains. After months of beta releases and teasing new features, June's Pixel Drop finally brings the release of Android 17 to Pixel devices along with multiple new features like Screen Reactions, the ability to multitask more easily with app Bubbles, and even more advanced AI features that will let you create AI-generated videos and music tracks directly on your smartphone. To make things even more enticing for those waiting to upgrade, this drop also marks the official release of Wear OS 7, which brings several useful new features directly to your wrist. Google just dropped a major Android update -- here are the best new features to know Plus some cool stuff coming in March's Pixel Drop Posts By Rob LeFebvre Screen Reactions and Bubbles Multitasking gets another upgrade One of the most useful upgrades coming to Android 17 with the latest Pixel Drop is the introduction of two key features: Screen Reactions and Bubbles. Screen Reactions is an expansion of your phone's built-in screen recorder, and it will allow you to automatically overlay your selfie camera footage over your screen so that you can react to content in real-time. The system uses AI to create a custom green screen behind your video, similar to how Google Meet does it. Bubbles, on the other hand, looks like a small change on paper but it brings a lot of big energy behind it. This feature will allow you to create little icons that float above other apps, making it a huge multitasking upgrade that is coming to all Android 17 Pixel phones and folds. Google says that you can easily turn apps like your calendar, browser, and messages into little floating bubbles that appear over your main screen, allowing you to quickly pull them up. I found 3 Android features so useful I'm confused why they ship disabled Why aren't these already on? Posts 11 By Rob LeFebvre Bubbles is very reminiscent of some of the multitasking features we've seen for Google Messages and even Facebook Messenger, which have bubbles that appear for conversation threads you can easily tap into at any point. However, unlike those conversation threads, it looks like the new Bubbles feature will launch full-fledged iterations of the app instead, allowing you to easily swap between them. This expands even more with the Bubbles Bar on Pixel foldables, which will allow you to keep a series of applications on your screen at all times. Android 17 is all about the AI A story that's becoming old as time The release of a new version of Android is exciting for several reasons. Not only does this mean we'll finally start to see other companies working on their versions of Android 17 more publicly -- Samsung is already doing so with One UI 9, but it also means those of us who own phones like the Google Pixel 10 now have even more things to brag about to our friends. Perhaps the biggest AI additions coming to Android 17 and Pixel phones with the June Pixel Drop are Gemini Omni and Lyria 3. These two AI models will now provide you with even more ways to use the Gemini app and your smartphone to create AI-generated music and videos. Gemini Omni will require you to have a Google AI subscription, but will let you prompt Gemini to create full-fledged videos, though some limitations that Google didn't outline in its announcement may apply. With Lyria 3, you can use text prompts or even images to create original AI-generated tracks. The system will also allow you to customize them and change settings like tempo, vocal levels, and more. Other additions include the expansion of AI features like Edit Photos, Voice Translate, Manual Call Screen, and Magic Cue across different apps and regions. Android's upgraded Quick Share feature that lets it share photos from an Android phone more easily with Apple's AirDrop is also coming to the Pixel 9a and Pixel 8a. Android 17's Contact Picker is the privacy upgrade we needed years ago Contact sharing in Android is currently all-or-nothing, but that's changing in Android 17. It's a long-overdue upgrade for contact privacy. Posts By Brady Snyder There is, of course, so much more to Android 17 than just these features. And so far, we've seen some exceptionally useful tricks included in what Google has showcased. It has even made some Pixels feel new thanks to its different features and changes. The update will begin rolling out today, June 16, 2026, and it will be available on all currently supported Pixel phones and tablets. Wear OS 7 brings new Live Updates and more device control to your fingertips Oh, and even more Gemini, too On top of the additional features coming to Android 17, those of us rocking Android smartphones and smartwatches also have the release of Wear OS 7 to look forward. Arriving on Pixel Watches starting today, the new update will bring Live Updates directly to your wrist, allowing you to keep up with your latest food order or the score of this weekend's big game. The ability to control your connected devices more easily is also a big component of the update. With Wear OS 7, you'll be able to directly review photos taken from smart glasses on your watch display, as well as manage your media controls more easily across your various devices. Google also says that "deep, system-level power optimizations" will also help the Pixel Watch battery last longer on a single charge, and the arrival of Gemini Intelligence will help make your watch's assistant "genuinely yours."

Google's New Update Brings These Android 17 Features to Pixel Phones
Pixel devices will begin receiving the update starting today Google on Wednesday released the latest Pixel drop for June 2026. The update brings several new features to the company's smartphones, including some that are available with the Android 17 update, which is now available for eligible Pixel models. The company has added Screen Reactions, allowing users to interact with on-screen content using AI-powered contextual responses. There are also Gemini Omni-powered video editing capabilities and Bubbles, which lets users turn select apps into floating bubbles. June 2026 Pixel Drop: What's New The latest update for Pixel arrives a couple of days after promotional videos showcasing several of the new features were leaked. Two of the standout features in the June Pixel Drop are Screen Reactions and Bubbles, both of which were teased during The Android Show in May and later spotted in the Android 17 QPR1 Beta 4 update. Pixel devices will begin receiving the update starting today, and users will receive a notification when the update is available for their handset. Screen Reactions is geared towards content creators and educators, enabling them to integrate selfie video capture into screen recordings. They can create reaction videos and tutorials without relying on multiple apps. This feature is accessible through Quick Settings on Pixel by toggling the Show selfie camera option before starting a screen recording. Google's update improves multitasking by expanding support for Bubbles across more apps. As per the company, users can turn almost any app into a floating window by long-pressing on its icon. On the Pixel 10 Pro Fold, the floating apps will be accessible through a dedicated Bubble bar. The company has expanded Gemini's capabilities on Pixel by introducing Gemini Omni-powered video editing tools. Users can create and edit videos using natural language prompts. They have the option of generating videos from scratch, remixing existing images and clips from their gallery, using pre-built templates, or creating AI avatars of themselves using the Gemini Avatar feature. In addition to video editing, Pixel phones are also receiving music generation capabilities powered by Gemini. Using the Gemini app, they can generate original songs by describing a concept or uploading an image. As per the company, tracks will be created, complete with lyrics, while also allowing customisation of vocals, genre, and tempo. For users in India, Google is rolling out Manual Call Screen support to Pixel. Previously limited to the global markets, it lets users screen unknown callers by asking them to identify themselves and explain the purpose of the call before the user answers. Meanwhile, the "Take a Message" feature now features Custom Greetings for recording personalised outgoing messages for missed calls. The Pixel update for June also expands existing Pixel features to more devices. For example, Voice Translate with real-time speech-to-speech translation is now available on the Pixel 10a. Meanwhile, Pixel 8a and Pixel 9a users will be able to send and receive files to Apple users using both AirDrop and Quick Share. On the security front, the Emergency Sharing feature now supports Car Crash Detection, Fall Detection, and Loss of Pulse Detection. The company says if a supported Pixel device detects a serious emergency, it can simultaneously contact emergency services and notify selected emergency contacts.

Google Pixel Phones Could Soon Get New AI-Powered Creation Tools
Users could get AI-powered music creation tools on Pixel devices Google appears to be preparing its next Pixel Drop update for Pixel smartphones. While the Mountain View-based tech giant has yet to announce its arrival, a series of promotional videos have been spotted online, offering an early glimpse at what could be coming to eligible Google Pixel smartphones. Based on the teaser videos, Google could bring several AI-powered capabilities, including a long-rumoured Screen Reactions feature and expanded Gemini Omni tools. Leaked Pixel Ads Hint at New AI Features and Screen Reactions Pixel Drops are Google's quarterly feature updates that introduce new functionality outside major Android releases. According to promotional videos spotted by Droid-Life on Amazon, Google's next Pixel Drop could focus heavily on Gemini-powered AI experiences. A notable feature discovered by the publication appears to be Screen Reactions. First showcased during The Android Show in May, it was later spotted in the Android 17 QPR1 Beta 4 update. The feature allows users to interact with on-screen content using AI-powered contextual responses and visual effects. While it was previously believed to be made available with Android 17 later this year, the leaked promo suggests it may arrive sooner than expected, through a Pixel Drop update. Apart from this, the video also teased a wider integration of Gemini Omni, Google's multimodal AI model that is claimed to be capable of generating anything from any input, which was unveiled at I/O 2026. Per the report, it could bring creator-focused tools to Pixel devices. One such ad reportedly teases that users will be able to combine different forms of media to generate videos directly on supported Pixel phones. Another teaser carries the tagline "Turn Your Ideas into Music". This hints at AI-powered music generation tools on Pixel, allowing users to create songs or audio clips using text-based prompts. However, what's surprising is that a handful of the leaked features are already available through the higher-end Google One subscriptions. Consequently, it remains unclear whether Google plans to make these tools available to all Pixel users through the upcoming Pixel Drop or if the update will only showcase existing subscription-based Gemini services. Pixel Drops typically arrive every quarter, with the most recent feature release landing in May. That last Pixel update introduced several enhancements across Google's ecosystem, including improved satellite SOS capabilities, expanded Recorder features, more expressive Gboard stickers, and upgrades to Pixel's accessibility and camera experiences. The company also rolled out Scam Detection improvements and enhanced AI-powered call assistance tools.

Google June Pixel Drop is here: New AI features, how to download and more
Gemini Omni brings AI-powered video creation and editing to Pixel Google has begun rolling out the June Pixel Drop, bringing a bunch of new AI-driven creator tools, multitasking improvements and call management features to Pixel devices alongside Android 17 and Wear OS 7. The features start arriving today and will continue rolling out over the coming weeks, Google said in a blog post. This confirms much of what leaked through promotional videos spotted on Amazon earlier this week, including Screen Reactions and Gemini Omni. Google June Pixel Drop new features Screen Reactions Screen Reactions solves a specific problem for anyone making reaction videos or tutorials. Previously, capturing both a screen recording and a selfie video required separate apps and manual editing to combine them. With this update, Pixel users can record their screen and their own reaction simultaneously, with the selfie feed appearing as a movable, resizable overlay, creating a built-in green screen. To use it, swipe down twice on Quick Settings, tap the recording icon, toggle "Show selfie camera," and start recording. The front camera feed can be tapped, dragged and resized in real time while recording continues. Gemini Omni for video and music creation Gemini Omni brings AI video generation directly into the Pixel experience. Users can describe what they want in natural language and combine text, images and existing video clips from their camera roll to produce a finished video, either from scratch, by remixing existing media or using a premade template. One notable addition is the ability to create a custom AI avatar that looks and sounds like the user, which can then be inserted into generated videos. Gemini on Pixel also gains music generation. Users can describe an idea or upload a photo and Gemini will generate an original track complete with lyrics, with options to customise style, vocals and tempo. The feature is accessed through the Gemini app's tools menu under "Create music." Bubbles for multitasking A new feature called Bubbles lets users long-press any app icon to convert it into a small, floating window that sits on top of other apps, making it easier to reference one app while working in another. On the Pixel 10 Pro Fold specifically, bubbles dock into a dedicated bubble bar at the bottom of the screen, allowing quick single-tap switching between floating apps. Expanded device support Voice Translate, Google's real-time speech-to-speech call translation feature, is now available on the Pixel 10a, supporting English and Hindi in preview. It can be set up through the Phone by Google app under Settings. Quick Share has also been updated to interoperate with Apple's AirDrop on the Pixel 8a and 9a. Smarter chat and calling features Magic Cue, Google's contextual suggestion feature is expanding to Snapchat conversations over the coming weeks. It will surface relevant suggestions directly within chats. On the calling side, Custom Greetings lets users record a personalised outgoing voice message for missed or declined calls, with caller messages still transcribed in real time. Manual Call Screen, which lets Google's Call Assist ask an unknown caller to state their name and reason for calling before the user picks up, is now available in India. How to download the June Pixel Drop The update rolls out automatically over the coming weeks, but users who want to check immediately can go to Settings, then System, then System Update and tap "Check for update." Once available, the update can be downloaded and installed from there. Not all features will appear the moment the update installs, since Google is staggering server-side rollouts for several of the AI tools, including Gemini Omni and music generation, over the following weeks. Feature availability also depends on the specific Pixel model. Screen Reactions and Bubbles are tied to particular hardware generations, with the dedicated bubble bar, for instance, exclusive to the Pixel 10 Pro Fold, and Voice Translate's expansion limited to the Pixel 10a for now.
