Google's Latest Enticement for Its AI Pro Plan: 5TB of Cloud Storage
Most of Google's cloud storage plans come with extra access to AI tools like video generation. Google is sweetening the deal for those who might want to upgrade their plans to use more AI features. The company's mid-tier AI Pro plan, which costs $20 a month, now includes 5TB of cloud storage that can be used across services, including Gmail, Google Photos and Google Drive. In addition to that, the plan also bundles in Google Home Premium Standard, which costs $10 on its own and adds expanded capabilities to Google Home devices, like a 30-day event history. A one-month free trial is available for the AI Plus plan. In a post on X, Shimrit Ben-Yair, Google's vice president and general manager of Google One and Google Photos, said that, along with the extra cloud space, AI Pro subscribers or $250-per-month AI Ultra subscribers will get access to new features, like Chrome auto browse to automate online tasks. Google has three AI-focused plans: AI Pro, AI Ultra and AI Plus. AI Plus, the lowest paid tier, offers 200GB of cloud storage and access to a limited set of AI features for $8 a month. To make matters more confusing for those who only have a casual interest in AI, in addition to free Google plans that include 15GB of storage, the company offers nine paid plans, all with monthly or annual billing options. Plans start with a $2-per-month Basic plan and go all the way up to the $250-per-month Ultra plan with 30TB of storage. Google's closest non-AI plan is its $10-per-month Premium, which includes 2TB of cloud storage and some access to the Veo 3.1 video generation model. With OpenAI deciding to shutter its Sora video generation service, there may be more interest in Google's image and video generation tools. All of Google's plans that are $20 and up include 1,000 monthly AI credits, which can be used with Google tools, like Whisk and Flow, to create videos. Depending on the tool and type of video, it can cost anywhere from 10 to 100 AI credits to produce one.

Google's AI Pro Plan Just Got a Big Storage Upgrade
Google's latest perk for AI subscribers is a major boost in cloud storage. "We know your memories and projects need space to grow, so we're expanding Google AI Pro's storage offering from 2TB to 5TB -- at no additional cost," Shimrit Ben-Yair, Google's VP for Photos and Google One subscriptions, wrote on X. The offer applies to new and existing subscribers. Current users will be automatically upgraded to the additional storage. You can confirm the upgrade on your Google One dashboard. In my case, the additional storage appeared right away. Barring any partner or company discounts, Google's AI Pro plan costs $19.99 per month, and it can be shared with up to five family members. Compared with the free or AI Plus plans, AI Pro offers more usage and upload limits in Gemini. You also get more credits for video generation on Flow, as well as access to premium AI features in Google Meet and Calendar, and Gemini's "auto browse" mode in Chrome. The only tier above AI Pro is AI Ultra, which costs $249.99 per month but adds more monthly credits, a Google Home Premium Advanced plan, early access to Project Mariner and Project Genie, a YouTube Premium individual plan, and 30TB of storage.

Google's $20 per month AI Pro plan just got a big storage boost
Google's $20 per month AI Pro plan, which includes Gemini, Veo and Nano Banana, got a big storage boost and some other new perks. Users of the plan (also available for $200 per year) will see their cloud space jump from 2TB to 5TB at no extra cost. That extra storage can be used not only for AI but also Gmail, Google Drive and Google Photos backups. Gemini can now pull context from Gmail and the web for Drive, Docs, Slides and Sheets, provide summaries for your Gmail inbox and proofread emails before you send them. It's also introducing additional agentic help with Chrome auto browse "that handles those tedious, multi-step chores -- like planning a trip or filling out forms," Google VP Shimrit Ben-Yair wrote on X. Finally, Google announced that it's bundling its Home Premium subscription into AI Pro, a perk that usually costs $10 per month by itself. The storage and extra features are now available for new and existing subscribers. You may not see the benefits appear in your plan yet but it's definitely not an April Fool's joke, Ben-Yair assured X commenters.

Google just doubled your cloud storage (and then some) on AI Pro plan
The news also comes as Google maintains the same Google One cloud storage options for years now. Google offers a series of AI subscription plans, bundling cloud storage with access to a host of AI features. Now, the company has announced that its middle-tier plan has received a welcome storage boost. Google executive Shimrit Ben-Yair confirmed on Twitter that the company has increased cloud storage on the AI Pro plan from 2TB to 5TB. Check out a screenshot of the tweet below. The company claims this increase comes at no additional cost, so you're still spending $19.99/month on the AI Pro plan. That's great news and means you don't have to splash out on the frankly ludicrous $250/month AI Ultra plan if all you want is more storage. In saying so, I really wish Google would upgrade its Google One cloud storage plans after all this time. The Basic $2/month plan has been stuck at 100GB for over a decade now, while the $3/month Standard plan has offered 200GB of storage since its 2018 launch. I'm not holding my breath for these upgrades, though, as Google is clearly prioritizing AI plans.

Google just gave its AI Pro plan a massive storage upgrade -- and didn't even raise the price
Google AI offers a sizable suite of AI tools spread out across three subscription tiers: AI Plus, AI Pro and AI Ultra. AI Pro users will be more than happy to learn that Google has increased their storage limit and done the unthinkable: not increase the price. Given the high storage demands of saving AI-generated projects, AI Pro subscribers now have much more storage to work with. More storage, more benefits, no extra cost Shimrit Ben-Yair, Google's VP and GM of Google Photos, announced on X that Google AI Pro users will get a storage boost from 2TB to 5TB -- with no price increase, staying at $19.99 per month. The upgrade covers storage across Google Photos, Drive, and Gmail. She also shared that Gemini is becoming more collaborative across Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Drive. It can now pull context from your files, emails, and the web to surface insights -- essentially acting like a built-in project partner. This is available in English globally for Docs, Sheets, and Slides, and in the U.S. for Drive. Ben-Yair also highlighted several additional AI Pro upgrades, including: * U.S. AI Pro users will notice an even more useful version of Gemini in their Gmail that will answer your questions about anything in your inbox and proofread your messages before you hit "send" * Auto-browsing through Chrome has been enabled thanks to an improved agentic AI experience, where the AI system works on its own to carry out tedious work on Google's web browser (such as filling out online forms) * Google Home Premium's smart home security features are now available to AI Pro subscribers through the Standard plan If you're not already subscribed to Google AI Plus, it may be worth considering. It includes access to Gemini with higher usage limits, Veo 3.1 Fast for video generation, NotebookLM, and more AI tools. AI Plus is the cheaper option at $7.99 per month, though it comes with 500GB of storage. AI Pro costs $19.99 with much higher storage, while the top-tier AI Ultra plan runs $249.99 and offers up to 30TB. For most people, sticking with AI Pro -- especially with the new storage upgrade -- should be more than enough. Bottom line It's rare to see a subscription offer more without raising the price. Credit to Google for giving AI Pro users a major storage boost at no extra cost. Google raises storage to 5TB at no extra cost, if you already pay for AI Pro
If you already pay for Google AI, you just got 3TB more storage for free Google has quietly made its AI Pro plan even more useful. The company has increased the bundled storage from 2TB to 5TB without changing the monthly price. This means that users already paying around $20 per month for Google's AI tier can now get an extra 3TB of storage across Google Drive, Gmail, and Google Photos at no added cost. AI subscriptions are easy to pitch, promising smarter chatbots and flashy generation tools. But they are much easier to justify when they also solve another practical problem people have, which is constantly running out of cloud storage. What's the big deal? Recommended Videos Google's official AI plan pages now show 5TB included with Google AI Pro, while recent coverage confirms the storage jump is now part of the plan with no price increase. Not hiking up the cost is the highlight here. In other words, this is not just Google repeating an idea it floated before. It is the point where the value proposition gets a lot more concrete. The value is real Google AI Pro is not just about Gemini access. The plan also bundles premium AI tools and perks, but storage is the part that instantly changes the match. At 5TB, the plan starts to feel less like "paying for AI and getting some storage" and more like "paying for a big storage plan that also includes AI." It also matters because cloud storage is one of the few subscription perks people immediately find useful. You may not need to care about the latest model names to know whether 5TB is useful. Google is clearly trying to make AI feel more essential The move also says something bigger about where Google sees the market going. Instead of selling AI as a standalone novelty, the company is increasingly bundling it into services people already use every day. If you are already deep into Gmail, Drive, and Photos, 5TB is the kind of upgrade that makes the AI subscription feel far less optional.

Google increases cloud storage on AI Pro plan to 5TB
Google has increased the cloud storage for its AI Pro plan from 2TB to 5TB at no additional cost to users. The monthly subscription for the AI Pro plan remains at $19.99. This storage upgrade marks a significant change in Google's cloud offerings after years of maintaining the same Google One cloud storage options. The Basic plan has remained at 100GB for over a decade, and the Standard plan has offered 200GB since 2018. Shimrit Ben-Yair, a Google executive, confirmed the new storage capacity via X, indicating that users will not need to switch to the more expensive $250/month AI Ultra plan to obtain additional storage. The upgrade highlights a focused expansion of Google's AI subscription offerings, which bundle cloud storage with AI features. However, users have expressed a desire for updates to the traditional Google One plans, which have seen little change in recent years.

Google Expands AI Pro Benefits with 5TB Storage and Added Gemini Perks - Phandroid
