Reolink Unveils Dual-Lens AI Security Cameras and Smart Hub at IFA 2026

Home security cameras become a lot more important when you have kids or pets running around. Whether you're checking if your dog is getting into trouble, making sure the kids got home safely, or keeping an eye on a package outside your door, being able to quickly see what's happening can offer some much-needed peace of mind. That's where the new Reolink OMVI 2i Ultra could come in handy. Unveiled at IFA 2026, the wire-free security camera gives you two sets of eyes on the same area -- one to capture the bigger picture and another to follow whatever deserves a closer look. It does this by pairing an 8MP ultra-wide camera with a separate 5MP pan-and-tilt camera. When the wide camera spots someone, the second can follow them even after they move outside the first camera's view. It can pan 355 degrees, tilt 50 degrees, and automatically zoom and adjust its framing to keep the subject visible. You can also tap anywhere on the wide-angle feed to point the second camera there -- handy if, say, your dog is getting suspiciously close to the garden. Since the camera is completely wire-free, you also get more flexibility with where you install it. It has a removable 10,000mAh battery claimed to last up to six months, and the built-in 6W solar panel can keep it running with around 30 minutes of sunlight each day. The OMVI 2i Ultra arrives this fall, although pricing hasn't been announced yet. A higher-end OMVI X16 PoE with 24MP resolution and 16x optical zoom is also coming in Q4 2026. The hardware isn't the only interesting part of the announcement, though. The company is upgrading its on-device ReoNeura AI platform with Custom AI Detection, which lets you train your cameras to recognize situations specific to your home. You could, for example, teach the system what your side gate looks like when it's open and get an alert whenever somebody forgets to close it. Some of those AI features are also coming to the new Home Hub 2, which stores and manages footage locally without requiring a cloud subscription. It connects up to eight cameras, supports up to 16TB of external storage, and lets you search recordings using everyday descriptions. So, instead of scrolling through hours of footage to find out when a package arrived, you could simply search for that moment. The Home Hub 2 arrives this fall for $199.99. There's also broader smart home support, with Alexa, Google Home, Home Assistant, Homey, and IFTTT compatibility. That means you can view camera feeds on devices such as an Echo Show or Nest Hub, use voice controls, or incorporate camera events into your existing smart home automations. Rounding out the IFA announcements is the TrackFlex WiFi, a $199.99 dual-lens 4K camera arriving in the US on October 20. It offers a 270-degree detection range, 355-degree pan and 50-degree tilt, automatic tracking and zoom, Wi-Fi 6, and AI detection that can tell people, vehicles, and animals apart to help cut down on unnecessary alerts. There's a lot being announced here, but the common thread is making security cameras more useful after they spot something.
