Reliance Industries Limited unveiled a suite of AI-powered initiatives for its media and entertainment platform at the Reliance Industries 49th AGM on Friday, with JioStar announcing the launch of JioStar GenAI Media Studio (JAMS).

The end-to-end content production platform integrates artificial intelligence throughout the entire content creation journey, from ideation and storytelling to image, audio, video, and final production workflows.

Akash Ambani announced that JAMS aims to nurture a new generation of creative technologists who can combine storytelling with AI to produce AI-driven premium content across languages and formats for India's diverse audiences.

AI Snapshot and Content Commerce Transform User Experience

Alongside the GenAI Media Studio, JioStar introduced AI Snapshot, a personalized recaps engine that stitches together key moments into customised narratives for individual users.

The company also unveiled Content Commerce features that enable in-app shopping, allowing users to purchase products without leaving their favourite shows or live streams.

These features aim to transform how users discover, consume, and interact with content across the platform.

During FY26, JioHotstar already rolled out several AI-driven features including ChatGPT-powered conversational discovery with recognition of Indian accents and regional languages, and in-app food ordering through a partnership with Swiggy during IPL matches.

Dominant Market Position Fuels AI Expansion

The announcement comes as JioStar consolidates its leadership in India's media market, commanding a 34.7 per cent viewership share in television entertainment, nearly equal to the next three players combined.

With 389 million viewers consuming content daily across genres and languages, JioStar, Jio Studios, and Network18 together form what Ambani described as India's most powerful media ecosystem.

The business posted FY26 revenue of Rs 34,917 crore, EBITDA of Rs 5,842 crore, and net profit of Rs 3,434 crore.

Record-Breaking Digital Reach Sets Stage for AI Integration

JioHotstar averaged 451 million monthly active users during FY26, reaching a scale that Ambani said is among the largest in the world and the largest in India.

During India's victorious T20 World Cup campaign, the platform recorded a world-record 72.5 million concurrent viewers in India, while nine of the ten highest global concurrency records are now held by JioHotstar.

IPL 2026 reached more than 700 million viewers on the platform, underscoring the massive scale of its digital ecosystem.

The platform became the first Indian paid OTT platform to cross one billion downloads and is now available on 99 per cent of connected televisions in India.
