Logitech Launches $99 MX Keypad: A Physical Control Center for AI-Powered Coding Workflows

Logitech has launched the MX Keypad, a $99 accessory designed to help developers manage the increasing complexity of AI-assisted coding. Developed in close collaboration with GitHub, the device addresses a specific friction point that has emerged as AI tools reshape how code gets written.1

The Logitech MX Keypad features nine customizable LCD keys that developers can configure to trigger AI agents, launch commands, run macros, and control multiple applications simultaneously. According to Valeriya Kostyukovskaya, Global Business and Marketing Manager for MX at Logitech, the company identified a clear gap in the market. "We saw a shift that was happening extremely fast, and the number of AI tools was also growing and changing very rapidly. As a result, we started seeing friction between different multitasking activities and switching between different agents and tabs," she explained.4

The device measures approximately 3.6 by 3.1 inches and weighs just 96 grams, making it compact enough to sit alongside a keyboard without consuming significant desk space.1

Integration with GitHub Copilot and Leading AI Tools

The MX Keypad ships with native integration for GitHub Copilot, VS Code, and IntelliJ IDEA at launch. Each device includes three free months of GitHub Copilot Pro+ for both new and existing users, redeemable through the Logi Options+ app.3

The physical control center supports multiple AI coding tools including Claude Code and OpenAI Codex, with community plugins already available through the Logi Marketplace.2

Developers can assign running AI sessions to specific keys, monitor agent status in real-time, and execute predetermined prompts with a single tap. The device also supports voice prompting capabilities for controlling AI agents.3

Key developer functions include triggering custom agents for code generation, refactoring and commenting, mapping prompts to physical keys, launching development environments, and executing workflows such as Git scripts and debugging sequences.3

Customization Through Logi Options+ and SDK

The Logi Options+ app enables extensive customization of the MX Keypad experience. Developers can assign shortcuts, saved prompts, scripts, and macros to individual keys, with two page buttons providing access to up to 15 pages of commands. App-aware profiles automatically switch layouts as users move between applications, meaning the same physical buttons can perform different actions in VS Code, Slack, Chrome, or other tools.1

For developers seeking deeper integration, Logitech offers the Logi Actions SDK, which supports C# and Node.js. The SDK includes AI-friendly documentation that allows coding agents to generate custom integrations directly.5

Addressing Agentic Coding Workflows

The MX Keypad directly targets what Logitech calls agentic coding workflows—the practice of working with multiple AI agents simultaneously rather than writing all code manually in a single environment. Kostyukovskaya noted that repetitive routines represent one of the biggest use cases. "If a developer is debugging or working on a pull request, for example, they can create a single button that executes a sequence of steps. This can include predetermined text as well, so if they need to enter a description, that can be built into the automation," she said.4

The device also helps manage app-switching challenges. Instead of constantly toggling between different applications and typing the same commands, developers can assign actions to keys and trigger them directly.5

Pricing, Availability and Sustainability

The Logitech MX Keypad is priced at $99.99 in the United States and Rs. 15,999 in India, positioning it as a more affordable alternative to Logitech's MX Creative Console, which costs $199.99.1

The device is available starting September 8 in Graphite and Pale Grey color options.1
