Google Meet is finally giving users more control over 'Take notes for me'
Karandeep Singh Oberoi is a Durham College Journalism and Mass Media graduate who joined the Android Police team in April 2024, after serving as a full-time News Writer at Canadian publication MobileSyrup. Prior to joining Android Police, Oberoi worked on feature stories, reviews, evergreen articles, and focused on 'how-to' resources. Additionally, he informed readers about the latest deals and discounts with quick hit pieces and buyer's guides for all occasions. Oberoi lives in Toronto, Canada. When not working on a new story, he likes to hit the gym, play soccer (although he keeps calling it football for some reason๐ค) and try out new restaurants in the Greater Toronto Area. Google Meet is on a roll. Soon after bringing the platform's standout 'take notes for me' feature out into the real world, Google is supercharging the tool's efficacy for digital meetings. For reference, the tool has been available within online Google Meet meetings since 2024. It transcribes everything that was said in a meeting and presents the information in a Google Doc emailed to you. The upgrade builds directly on top of Google Meet's November 2025 update, which gave users the option to select the length of their meeting notes. With the latest update, users can now tailor their notes to be more actionable and easier to digest by choosing exactly which sections they want to include. The feature will show up for you within the next two weeks You should now be able to toggle specific sections on or off from within the in-call menu, as seen in the image above. These include existing sections like Summary, Next Steps, and Details, alongside an all-new addition: Decisions. The new Decisions section "explicitly captures outcomes and tracks their status, such as Aligned, Needs further discussion, Disagreed, or Shelved." Decisions is limited to English Google Meet users only, at least for now. Elsewhere, within the same update, Google has also fine-tuned take notes for me's summary section. The section will now be "more concise and scannable, allowing you to quickly catch up on key points" without having to dig in for information. The Google Meet update started rolling out today. Expect it to be widely available across Business Standard and Plus, Enterprise Standard and Plus, Frontline Plus, Google AI Pro for Education, and Google AI Pro and Ultra accounts by May 15.

Google Meet's AI note-taker just got a whole lot better and less overwhelming
Your meeting notes just got smarter, more customizable, and way more actionable. Google Meet's "Take notes for me," which the company announced back in 2024, is already a lifesaver for anyone who has to juggle typing notes and actually participating in a meeting. Since then, the company has added numerous features to make its AI meeting notetaker service even better, including the ability to take in-person meeting notes, create longer meeting notes, and more. Recommended Videos Now, Google is making it even better with new customization options that let you control exactly what shows up in your meeting notes. What's actually new? The biggest addition is the ability to toggle specific sections on or off during a meeting. You can now choose which of the four sections you want in your notes: Summary, Decisions, Next steps, and Details. The changes only apply to your current meeting, so you don't have to worry about breaking your default settings for future calls. The new Decisions section is the standout feature for me. Instead of hunting through a wall of text to figure out what was actually agreed upon, this section explicitly captures outcomes and even tracks their status. The only caveat is that the Decisions section is currently available in English only. Google has also improved the Summary section to be more concise and scannable, making it easier to catch up on key points without reading through everything. Do you need to do anything to use it? Not really. If you already have access to "Take notes for me," this update will add these features automatically. Just turn the feature on in your next meeting and explore the new features. The feature is rolling out gradually, starting April 30, 2026, and is available on Business Standard and Plus, Enterprise Standard and Plus, Frontline Plus, Google AI Pro for Education, and Google AI Pro and Ultra plans.
